Earthlings.........A documentary I feel everyone should watch.

I am not one to preach about animal rights and I myself am guilty of turning a blind eye , but this video has moved me intensely and I feel I have to share it. I wont go into details about whats shown, but some graphic REAL stuff is shown here.

Posted by VDub on Nov-27-2009 17:24:

Is this about how we should treat other animals with the same care and respect that we treat humans???

Cause I don't need a sad video to tell me that..

And I also believe that we treat each other worse than we treat other animals...

Posted by RobSt*r on Nov-27-2009 17:33:

I just wanted to share it for awareness. Im not preaching, nor do I want to state any of my opinions on the matter here. Im just saying it moved me, and Im more aware now than I ever thought I was.

One opinion I have is that we are the worst thing to happen to this planet, and I have more "feelings" for animals than I do humans. Ive always felt that. Kinda sounds hypocritical from a once vegetarian turned meat eater again, yes I realize that.

Posted by VDub on Nov-27-2009 18:39:

It's sad to think what we do to this place...

And meat is gooooooood...

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-27-2009 18:41:

there was a person once who tried to tell me that humans dont deserve to live on earth and that we should decrease our numbers dramatically. She shut up real fast when i suggested she should lead by example.

LOL!!!

Dude, thats the fuckin point. Once again, Im not here to preach on whats wrong or right. I just feel its our SOCIAL RESPONCIBILITY to be aware of where our food, clothes and a lot of other things we dont even think about in a daily routine come from. Watch it, be informed, then move on. No one in my opinion should eat any animal or buy leather and not know how it got there. Simple. No one has to become vegitarian or anything, but it might make your choices from now on different on where you buy your food and other products from.

Faces of death is easier to watch, cause its just humans getting wrecked in accidents. This movie is hard to watch not so much because of gore and blood, which there isnt much of, but the SUFFERING..........Unnessesary Suffering.......way too much suffering. These creatures die from PAIN. Its not easy to watch.

I'm always up for a moving documentary...

When I'm not sick, or way too busy with exams...

I'll give it a watch, Thanks Rob!

Posted by Pett on Nov-29-2009 13:34:

just skip over this peta propoganda and watch a real documentary instead........hmmmmmmmmm
try "the war tapes"

I'm out.
I was never under the impression that millions of chickens surrendered themselves to slaughter.
There is a fight involved and it is not fun to watch.

If your not even going to watch the vid, why bother posting ignorant shit about eating meat and killing animals, cause its not even what the movie's main focus point is about.

I knew that all of these things occurred, but hadn't seen some of the the practices actually being carried out. Pretty cool to see how some of that stuff is actually done. I had no idea euthanasia on dogs worked so quickly!

I can't believe some of the things that people were doing to animals in that video. I understood that a slaughterhouse is where cows are killed and stuff, but throwing any animal, nevermind a dog, into a garbage truck and pulling the lever, for no apparent reason... That's sick man, real sick.

I'm speciesist though, fo sho.

Thanks for the diatribe. I get what the movie is about. Ease up on the "ignorant" comment, the section on food is really a remake of numerous videos found all over the net.and it is one of the majour sections of the doc.

I watched it, most of it is sad, some of it is necessary....and I'll re-add my ignorant comment... I was never under the impression that millions of chickens surrendered themselves to slaughter.

Posted by Jayx1 on Dec-01-2009 05:08:

If you think a slaughter house is bad you should watch videos of animals killing and dissecting their prey...

thats pretty gross too.

I wasn't referring to "your comment" but thanx for watching the video. I really don't give a rats ass what you or anyone else feels or thinks. I just felt this was a well done documentary, that deserves a watch, by everyone. The "ignorant" comments/pictures in this thread (to me anyways) disappoint me especially when folks in this forum have a lot more to say on less important issues. I can tell they were made without even watching the video. I dunno, I guess I was wrong in thinking more would be moved by its message as I was.

Watching nature is beautiful even in its goriest moments, to me. Watching us, humans, who have choice do as we do to those with no voice or say (being the other species on this planet), is harder for me to watch. They only act on instinct. We act on greed and all other emotions more than instinct. I didn't find this movie gross as much as I did upsetting, disappointing and angering.

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Dec-01-2009 14:00:

so the point of the movie is we don't respect animals....no shit. Do I get angry when a pet is treated badly, yes. Do I care that we kill millions of chickens a year for food, no. Do I care that we use animals for entertainment, no. Do I care that wild animals are being killed, no not really however; I do believe there needs to be limits placed on numbers.

The documentary doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know and doesn't change my opinion on things. I don't care how they kill the animals...if they are meant to be killed then they are meant to be killed.
