Thats gonna leave the flood gates opened. I suggest leaving the events in the subforum only. People are not gonna read the forum rules when posting events.
I am just making it clear if the threads are not created in the correct forum I will be deleting them & I expect no one to complain & say I didn't say or warn beforehand.

They already added a 'past events' subsection within the events section
I think the new sucks, I think they should get rid of it, and get rid of swamper he sucks too, nothing like having a canandian ruin everything for us
This forum is too dead.
I think if we keep it in Fl.. maybe Manny should start deleting posts of people who bump threads...
this section is kinda dead.
hopefully this events section can recruit new members... who will post actively and then swamper can prob change things to be like Toronto.

Originally posted by Swamper If you're curious what the forum looks like without events mixed in with the other threads, add &noevents=1 to the url when browsing the forum (Link)

Originally posted by Swamper I beg to differ. Without the events being listed, the oldest post on the first page is dated almost a month ago. In comparison, NYC (5 days), Cali (3 days). FLTA needs a pick-me-up and we'll see how this goes over the next month or so. Please try to understand that either way is not going to please everyone so we'll have to work out the kinks as we go along.
in a way it is true what he says.
Although it would be great to have some events threads on ignore.. it isn't best for this forum as a whole.
Coming into Fl with Month old posts in the front page is kinda weak. The events section can drive in more traffic. SO that can be good
guess i'll just give up then.

Originally posted by PatMcGroin but this is not solving the initial problem. all we've done is add an extra place to place events. our events thread is better than any other here on ta. the problem was no one used it properly and placed spam in the forum making it look like crap. that spam hasnt been eliminated. its only gotten an extra place to be placed in. there are plenty of dead forums here on ta and i would not consider fl to be one of them. check the uk, spanish, or portuguese forums. those are dead. i understand whatever gets decided isnt going to please everyone, and if everyone disagrees with me then fine i gotta deal. hell i've already got the novevents&1 link bookmarked (thank you for that btw), but thats not what the majority of people who post here said they wanted. i understand why you want to do it your way, im just trying to make sure you understand my point.
you guys are acting like rules were set in place... they never were. We are lucky to have this event forum *finally*.
Let's be happy and not get too picky.
Let's see how this goes before pre bitching.
Current Event Forum settings on TA:
Toronto/NYC/Montreal:
-Event threads NOT listed within main forum
-After event date the thread gets moved to 'Past Events' and locked - no further posting
California:
-Event threads listed within main forum
-After event date thread gets moved to 'Past Events' but NOT locked - posts are allowed (this allows for people to post reviews/pics/comments on an event after it's done (especially if it's a smaller event and they don't want to start a separate thread for it))
Florida:
-Event threads listed within main forum by DEFAULT - however, you have the choice and it will save your preferences in a cookie.
Show Event Threads in Main Forum: (YES / NO)
-After event date thread gets moved to 'Past Events' but NOT locked - posts are allowed
...................
I'll set up a link in the main florida forum somewhere where you can toggle it on/off as you see fit (so you can see if a prior event has had reviews OR can easily see at a glance what upcoming event is being most discussed).
where do u pull this shit out from? haha. that;s a very cool setting swamp man.
