Hello! Anyone else not getting into the whole holiday spirit sh!t?

anyone else not "feeling" all jolly this holiday season? seeing that I still don't have that gold-plated unicorn Obama promissed me before I voted for him, I am beginning to suspect I won't be getting it... evar! And there's a nagging feeling there's no Santa either... And miracle of lights didn't happen either.

it's been a shit year... and generally a fucking depressingly shitty decade, come to think of it. can't wait for it to be over.

Shit year or not, Christmas and New Years generally cheer me up no matter what. I love the Christmas Cheer

Posted by woscar on Dec-01-2009 03:52:

I actually hate the Christmas season, lol. Traffic gets really bad, you can't find parking anywhere, every fucking mall/store is full to the brim. It's just really annoying.

Malls are for tools. But the traffic is unavoidable, lol.

I am used to having no parking. Hell, most of the time I have to park a mile away from my appartment

I would rather listen to that crap for one month in a year, then I would to all that mainstream shit playin on the radio for the other 11 months.

Tru tru... It seems nowdays if your voice ain't auto-tuned, you ain't getting airtime. It fucking hurts my ears and makes me want to go and execute "double-tap style" the entire staff of Antares and then burn that mothafucka down.

"I'm so two thousand and eight, you so two thousand and late"... ugh, give me a rancid, rotting corpse cock so I could shove it in her fucking mouth.

the holidays are about spending time with your family and friends, not trees, lights and presents or wasting away at strip malls shopping for a bunch of shit you want and others have no use for. sadly most people don't understand that. they are slaves to consumerism.

I ditched my family on thanksgiving and drank at a bar by myself
how fucking EMO!

this is the BEST time of the year.

Posted by Cpt.Cocaine on Dec-01-2009 04:14:

Yeah, I officially quit christmas this year. I'm not doing the whole gift giving thing (pretty much agreed with everyone I know that they not get me anything), not gonna decorate either. I just think it's a pretty lame holiday, and watching people go consumer-crazy and get all stressed over something that's 'supposed' to be a happy time is kind of depressing.

Now all I have to do is deal with the christmas police - the happy cheery shitfucks who've watched a christmas carol one too many times and think they can make me have a scrooge-worthy epiphany.

I loooooooooove Christmaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss!!!

Except for the whole Jesus part...

^ and as for this sort of thing - spending time with people I care about, taking time off to relax and having good food is something that I like to do all year round.

Posted by chimera66 on Dec-01-2009 04:19:

the last thing christmas is about is spending money at least to me...

fucking cliche as xmass itself. like this is the only fucking time of the year you're supposed to spend with friends and family? If you love them so much, spend more time with them more than once a year.

Hey, someone has to keep this economy chugging along, no? It ain't gonna fix itself and Obama's money-printing ink well appears to be running a bit dry.

Yes, because every family has time off at other times of the year. Perhaps you're suggesting that entire extended families should synchronise their annual leave in order to hang out?

Christmas shopping is not the only reason to go to a mall during this time of the year. I've often found myself in situations where I have to go to a mall to get something that I need, completely unrelated to Christmas and it's an excruciating experience because it's chaos everywhere.

i've had a couple of years like that but i generally enjoy the holidays now. i like the cold fronts we get and going to starbucks and shopping and having a xmas tree up. one of these years, i'm spending xmas week in nyc. always wanted to do that, i've only been to nyc in the summer.

i get to go to indianapolis in a couple of weeks so i hope it snows while i'm there

your post is cliche. especially that unsolicited political statement. domesticated stated the obvious for you, that most people don't have the luxury of flying their distant friends and relatives in from around the country whenever they want to hang out. nor would the gathering be as significant if we could. i guess that means we don't love them /cliche

so, I what you're saying that if instead of xmass u got together for a 4th of July it just wouldn't be as meaningful. Also, airfares and hotels are most expensive this time of the year and the only reason is... Because they can.

oh noes, that would involve some commitment, planning and desire to attend.

I work with Indian people - some have family reunions that have 300+ people show up from all over the world and not necessarily at x-mass. Crazy, I know.

I dunno - maybe it's the immigrant side of my brain... But this love for family was instilled in me to be a year round sort of thing, not "one and done, see u next x-mass"

IMHO, this urge to get together for winter solstice stems from our pagan roots. gather the clan to worship the sun in a stone henge

Posted by Moongoose on Dec-01-2009 09:30:

I cant stand it when its the 1st of december and people are alredy acting like its fucking christmas, ffs wait another 3 weeks before you annoy me with your artificial cheeriness. The only holliday which should last a month is Winter-Enn-Mas.
