I really don't know why Sven is still keeping this series alive, to be honest. I really don't see the point in releasing a 2xCD compilation with tunes that have been beaten to death over the curse of a year. While other DJs like Dixon are pushing the envelope regarding mixed compilations, Sven is doing the exact opposite.

Sven Vath = rock concert. It has nothing to do with envelopes or newness or anything other than getting hammered while listening to loud music

I know the first time I heard sound of the second season I thought it was like nothing I'd ever heard. Right enough it was nothing I'd ever heard. Altho back in 2001, live sets and track lists weren't the big thing they are these days.

It's a nice concept, but not really relevant any more with the aforementioned availability of live sets from throughout the summer season in ibiza.

Exactly. Which is why I think mixed compilations should be something much more intricate/personal these days and offer something that you couldn't get anywhere else.

If thats the case then mix CDs should be pretty much out of the question then no?

Because "rock concert" does not translate to listening to a CD in my car/living room/earbuds while on a plane...etc

Sven Vath is fun because of sven vath. If the only thing left is the music...well...fuck.

I love what I'm hearing but I can agree with what some of you are saying about the concept losing its value. I try to keep myself updated about a whole lot of various genres, so this is a good way to get a push in the right direction for this genre since I don't always have time.

I agree, I found some gems in here that I was not aware of. Basti Pieper owns my existence. Harmony!!

lol

first part I disagree with. People listen to bon jovi "live at the fill in the blank concert" cd's. Sales are probably through the roof on something like that. Probably all tracks that people have heard before too.

second part, I get you. Sven's track selection when he's playing "techno" can be pretty weak at times, very cliched and obvious, especially some of the cocoon type records which would only sound good on a world class system such as amnesia

100% false.

Dont get angry with me because I'm bringing some logic and you're grasping at rather weak straws

Your logic is flawed. If I play a bon jovi CD at home, it's still Bon Jovi, playing their own songs.

If you listen to this CD at home you get a random jumble of decent club music.
