A popularity contest with better music and DJs is still a popularity contest.

Main difference between this and DJ Mag's poll is that at least RA is not claiming theirs is a ranking of the "world's best DJs" but rather a ranking of "people's favorite DJs".

He probably got in on rep alone. In fact, it looks like a lot of Berghein residents got in. The new Twilo, I guess.

Probably because he's a great DJ. Never seen him live, but plenty of mixes and his astonishingly good Berghain 02 cd should be testament enough to his talent.

And it seems he was on the map last year, number 11 in RA's 2008 poll.

iirc, you were questioning his abilities a few months back... ?

i've see him play, i agree he's great, i just didn't realize he was this popular.

Definitely, best DJ that I saw this year by a long way, great to see someone making their name as a DJ solely on their record-playing as opposed to any tracks they've released (apart from Dry Tool).
