This mix serves as my current demo/promo mix to give to local promoters. Considering that I live in Midwest Ohio, my goal is usually to put together a set that is somewhat "accessible" while still playing tracks I would enjoy playing out. I believe that I have accomplished that here. It is intended to show fairly broad/eclectic tastes, without really starting much of a scarf party.

The name derives from a quite literal scenario... I recently moved and don't have my studio and DJ booth set up yet. I mixed this set in my garage in the freezing cold, and initially my two space heaters kept tripping the breaker. I eventually had to switch to one.

Mixed on a combination of Vinyl and Traktor Pro/Macbook Pro.

Hopefully the direct link and 320kbps quality make up for the hefty (178 MB) filesize, but if this doesn't work for you, I can put up a 192 version. I also have a version split into individual tracks for burning to CD.

As always, thoughts/critiques appreciated.

Will check it out. That "Knee Deep" tune is awesome, BTW.

Thank ye kindly. Yes, loved that track ever since hearing it on Howells' Essential Mix.

i'm in! feedback later this week

Thanks, guys. Looking forward to hearing some feedback.

This mix is more of a "bigroom" showcase than a warmup set... hopefully I was able to pull off what I was going for.

Thanks! Kraftwerk's "The Mix" album is a highly influential bit of music from my childhood. It was actually my father's CD that I pulled it from.

It took me a while to decide which track I wanted to use, but that one seemed to work the best. I also like the bit of old-school feel it gives, and yet still holds up with all these modern tracks.

Quality mix. Really like the diversity in sounds with the chosen tunes and has a really nice interesting progression throughout. I picked Mirko Loko's Seventynine on vinyl last week so as you can tell I really like Tahktok, but I really got into the more progressive stuff later in the set. Mixing was smooth and clean, you've done a good job here and will be getting more listens from me.

Yeah, this was good. Nice varied tracklist, I think this will work really well as a club promo. Mixing was smooth, and the Kraftwerk track fit in very nicely.

Much appreciated. I approached it a little differently in this set. Usually, I tend to build the set all the way to the end and finish with a bang, whereas on this one I peaked it earlier and finished a little more smoothly. Wanted to give it a shot, and it was fun to try.

I've been listening to your "Back on Track" set quite a bit (although in pieces... keep on having to stop it since I listen at work). I really dig a lot of the tracks in there, so I'll be sure and post in your thread... haven't forgotten about ya!

Thanks a bunch! I'm really glad to see that the Kraftwerk track is going over so well. I must admit I was a bit concerned; not that I thought there would be a shortage of people on here that like Kraftwerk, but I wasn't sure what people would think of using it in the context of this particular set.

It wasn't the most "DJ friendly" track, but a little looping and filtering seemed to wedge it in nicely.

started off techy/bumpy. then #4 just threw a wrench into that - didn't particularly enjoy that. went back to more techy stuff, got a little progressive towards the end. it was good music, but i honestly did not enjoy the arrangement.

Nice mix man, just finished up. I think your description of it in the OP is pretty spot on as this should be quite accessible to most people.

Some weird stuff going on at the beginning but overall well mixed and presented. Good luck with your gigs!

I'll sit on this.

Thanks for the honest feedback, Denys. I knew it was a bit of an unorthodox arrangement. Just out of curiosity, was it the one track that threw everything off, or the arrangement of the whole set in general?

Thanks a lot, man! I've actually scored a monthly at a local spot here, and possibly another one. (Not using this mix, just through connections.) Glad you enjoyed the set.

Ted Promo, what did you think?
