Ableton help

ok, so im new to ableton, and im trying to draw in some automation, but how to i draw a straight line?

Are you serious? Draw a point, then draw another point. The line between them will be straight. If you want it to be flat, then make sure both of your points are at the same dB.

easy tiger, how do i draw in points? when im in draw mode i can only draw lines, cant seem to put in points, and when im in normal mode i can only move the whole automation line ??

Well then get out of draw mode. Double-click on the line in normal mode and voil, a fucking point.

lol, I seriously meant to write "same", not "dam" ie "damn". Haha, subconscious must have kicked in

Click on two areas, then get out of draw mode. Delete all the points but two. Now move these around until you get what you want. Hey presto, a result.

Well, I edited my post if you notice. And you should only to have to click 2 times, not 4.

By the way, if you double click on the red line it will set points without needing to go into draw mode.

Grab it (or ctrl + grab it), hit Tab and put it where you want it.

Oh and learn to do automation in arrangement. Doing it in session view gets annoying

click on the clip you want automation on then move the knob etc sylenth cuttoff or what you want to automate it should then appear in the little white rectangle boxes in the evelope section to the bottom left of the screen then draw the automation in that time selection screen to right of the screen ,if this dont make sense ill try to explain it better.

If you want automations in session view (aka. envelopes) click on the track you want, in the clip view (bottom left/shift+tab) you'll see 3 buttons; L, music notes, and E. Clicking on E will bring up the envelope section. From there you can automate whatever parameter you want in the clip itself, which in turn will automate over and over again in your session view everytime the clip loops.

In the end most automation will take place in the arrangement view as the song pans out (although individual clip automation is useful) Automating in arrangment view is as simple as selecting the automation parameter you wish to control in the track's drop down menu on the far right. And then as mentioned earlier, just double click anywhere you want on the line to add breakpoints, or go into draw mode (right click, check draw mode) and you can draw via staircase steps.

Hope this helps.
