Has anyone gotten a passport recently?

I will delete once I find an answer.

How long did it take you?

I am the worst fuking slacker in the world! I went to Canada Feb 2006 and my passport expired in Aug 2006.

I still haven't renewed it!

Now I want to go to Canada in January.. Jan 22 if I recall. soooo......... I should expedite right?

I have but I can't help you there

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Dec-11-2009 17:45:

I am kicking myself in the butt haha. Last minute for EVERYTHING!

Yes you can expidite (for a fee), I think it still takes about 2 weeks though. So do it now.

I think I am going to... not expedite cuz its far too much money and i am super-mega-ultra broke atm.

I will pay 15$ for then to overnight it when they are done.

The website site says they are taking 4-6 weeks to complete. Pray that I get it on time.

I imagine that you guys have a somewhat similar process as we do... I got mine in 3-4 days but had to pay an extra $150 or something like that.

Contact the passport issuing office.

this is the same here. I thought I'd lost mine 3 days before canada but it'd fallen into the middle of a book. I was ready to do a marathon train journey to my 'local' office to get a new one when I found it at 11pm the night before. A week is the minimum guaranteed time here.

that's okay... I don't have much stamina anyway

Atleast my passport should be renewed and I can come back to party proper another day.

This is just a pre celebration warm up

they joys of having three of them

one expires, use the other!

Posted by iclone on Dec-11-2009 20:23:

to speed the overall process: make an appointment (if an option) and go to the local passport agency to submit your app/renewal in person. bring a copy of your flight itinerary, hotel reservation, or something else that will prove the date by which you need your passport. if you *really* want to expedite it, there is a 24hr option...not for the budget-minded.

i'll drag you to get the passport photos, myself, if you don't have them before NYE!

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Dec-11-2009 20:27:

I just took em. I look nasty as fuk but o-well.

Canada here I come. (hopefully)

Not gonna expedite. It's 7 weeks away and I am going to have them overnight it to me.

US website says 4-6 weeks ... sooo -cross my fingers-

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Dec-12-2009 02:16:

a few friends of mine got passports at the beginning of the summer for a trip to europe. they didn't expedite, but the passports arrived in 3 weeks anyway.

You're screwed

Posted by _Nut_ on Dec-12-2009 03:41:

I renewed mine last year - and the website showed the same 4 - 6 week lag. I didn't expedite it (no need) and it was returned in about 2 weeks.

Posted by Lews on Dec-12-2009 03:55:

I had to get mine in 2 weeks this summer and I got it expedited for like $60 and got it in like 12 days or something.

Posted by aNYthing on Dec-12-2009 06:11:

...or you can drive to Philly and get one at the pasport office on 2nd and Chestnut the same day. Just schedule an appointment.
