TV Gurus Please Help. Sony vs Samsung
Between the Sony 120hz LED and Samsung 240HZ LED (Same price...)
which gives the best picture?
Does the extra 120 HZ really make a big difference?
Why are they the same price?
Does sony give a "better" Colour?
Any help would be nice
Ty
I'd take the Samsung depending on the model.
Sony KDL-46XBR8
46-inch 120Hz 1080p LED Backlit LCD HDTV
VS
Samsung's LED B8000 46" 1080p 240Hz LED HDTV
It could depend on the contrast ratio of the TVs, the size of the TV, response time.
If the two are the same size and same price, I'd take the Samsung, just basing it on the fact that it's 240Hz as opposed to 120.
But you should take in account of other tech specs too.
Sony is another word for crap. Get the Sammy.
No experience with the TVs exactly, but....
I have had bad experiences with Sony electronics (receiver, DVD player, VCR) and will NEVER BUY ANOTHER Sony product unless they make some serious changes. WAY over priced for what you get, and the user interface ALWAYS sucks!
Just my $0.02 worth.

thx
120hz makes a difference in sports and video games. Don't use it for movies because they'll look too fake.
buy a plasma. LCDs blow.

| An LED TV actually has tiny LEDs for each pixel. The advantage is no backlight, so for black there's literally no light at all. So blacks are true black, makes for a great contrast ratio, unlike lcd where black only looks black when it's against something bright. The disadvantage is price, price and size (The screens are pretty small at the moment as this manufacturing process is still in its infancy). |

oled's are manufactured differently but are still a led :P
which LED display are you referring to?

Seems marketing like to call led backlit lcd's "LED TVs", sounds like they've opened up a whole lot of legal worms since they're lying. |

| Originally posted by petro Ah I get it. So the majority of the TVs labeled as "LED TVs" that are out today, are just LED backlit LCDs, right? In that case what then is all this hype about energy saving as a result of having a backlit LCD? Is the different between LED and CCFL backlighting that much different in terms of energy consumption? |
It's not all about energy saving, the LED helps with the actual display. The contrast ratio is higher therefore the blacks will be darker and the whites will be the brighter. The new contrast ratios for LED backlit LCD TVs are now on par with the Plasma screens.
