For those considering a higher-end Digital USB/Firewire mixer...

The Ecler Evo 5 beat out competition from the Korg Zero 4 and Xone 4D in their tech awards 2009.

Here's a great video of DJ Mag covering the Evo 5 for those interested.

great mixer, still wish I didn't have to let mine go, studio mixes in ableton without it aren't quite the same (an x-session pro and nanokontrol is $1400 cheaper though). definitely pick one up if you can, I saw a few for $1000 on ebay .

I watched the ultimate club mixer one as well.

I came to an analogy after having watched it.

In my opinion, The 92vs800 battle could be looked at in the same way that the TSP vs SSL battle has been.

I think the 800 is more akin to TSP and the 92 is more basic similar to the SSL rig.

I know it's apples and pears but I just thought it was interesting. I suppose the fact that I own TSP means that it handles all my effects so when i was looking for a mixer I was more drawn in by the simplicity and quality of the 92.

I'm not in any way trying to start another 800 92 thread. Just an observation I made while watching some of the videos.

The Evo is nice, but for some reason I'm just not drawn to it's layout. I don't know why and I don't think my opinion is worth diddly squat seeing as I haven't even played around with the thing, but it's just an observation.

Cheers for sharing the link.

nelly

I personally don;t think they;re comparing like for like, and anyone that has worked in the pro audio retail industry knows these "review" and "awards" are bought and paid for - they nearly always do them of functions (which is fine) not off the many other real world important factors such a use, build quality, cost etc.

I take these things with a HUGE pinch of salt.

Just a proud owner tryin to spread the love. It's sorta the dark horse of mixers these days, often forgotten in the typical mixer discussions.
