The Strokes
i just recently p urchased their album and its one of the best cds i have ever purchased in my whole life of cd collecting..i think theyre brilliant and their style is just so unique i love it....any other stroke fans out there? post here
....I saw them in washington as well a while back and they stole the show...I recommend if that if u havent heard of this band go and download some of their songs from their album...i recommend, last night, is this it, someday and hard to explain...wow what a band crackhead bands always produce the best music
U know, I cannot understand why everyone likes them.
They're just rock.
Nothing innovative, nothing new, just the same rock'n'roll clichs recycled yet again.
lol, rock is in a sad state when regurgitating the who and the stones makes you "the next big thing"
nothing agaisn't the strokes I'm sure they are great
I have a bunch of their tunes as well. I like Last Night and Hard To Explain but Last Night is gettin kinda old
but they have a good sound to them.
The strokes are bad ass and i dont care really if they sound like a 70's rock band...i didnt live through the 70's and to me they rock.... theyre better then alot of the new wave bands like nickelback and crap like that...they got style which is something alot of bands dont have

The bass line for Last night rocks, it's completely out of time with the drums, but yet still sounds good, therefore, strokes rule
Werd,
Its true that there good. They came out with thier own unique sound. Something that nobody has ever done before at this day and age, which is bringing back basically the sound of the 70's with what thier playing. Not only that, the lead singer sings through a mirophone making it kinda have the "old flavor". Pretty cool.
Since mots record company's see the sucess of this band, there starting to sign alot of other similar bands (ex. The Hives, Red Strips & ect).
All in all the cd is a good buy of coarse.
JaY
It interesting to see that garage rock is becoming the next type of grunge.
*I was going to put the "Hello and welcome to last week"-pic here, but I'm to lazy to bother searching threads for it.*
Come on!The Strokes' album is old news. It's been out for many months now,and nobody seemed to care when I started ranting about them when davinox and a bunch of others starting bashing rock as a genre. And now look what's happening!
Anyways,my rant is over, and I'm glad to see that not everyone on this board keeps defining rock with crap bands like Nickelback and Creed.Rock is NOT dead,it's as alive and kicking as ever, and The Strokes, along with the bands that JayD(I'm really beginning to like your taste in music man!
) mentioned + a lot of others are the spearhead of the new talent in the genre. So keep looking, and you'll definitely find more of the really good stuff rock has to offer.
I've always liked the Strokes, ever since I heard last night
.
dude i been rocking to the strokes since september when their album came out...just i didnt buy the cd till last week and i m just saying i think its the best album ive ever bought every tune is great...I travelled all the way from toronto to washington to see thgem around 2 months ago and it was well worth it....i got to see them +10 of my fav bands at the rfk stadium...(yes the concert where ppl got trampled when eminem came out to perform)...ive seen the white stripes here in toronto and they fuckin rocked...i love white blood cells and there last two cds...those two are fuckin talented...the hives i like one or two of their songs theyre not as great as the white stripes and the strokes tho....and rock was never dead....and if it ever where very quiet its comin back and coming back hard... alot of unique bands are coming up into the scene and all of canadian talent as well
PS Nickelback sucks dirty choda..saw them live last week at edgefest and they sucked hard....finger eleven and default stole that show
pps the strokes and the white stripes have a concert together in NY in august i think the 15th but its sold out if anyone can get tickets let me know
strokes are ok, whitestripes are betta!
clones they are ! losers they be!
the strokes is nothing innovative, they just cloned a bunch of older stuff like going to the extent of stealing the guitar riffs etc ( I got examples of clone tracks, just can't think of them now )
I saw them live and their good yeah , but haven't invented nothing .....
let's see how their second albums follows up ...
I knew them before they were mainstream and the current situation pisses me off
oooooohhh and did I mention they are so over rated ( it's weird how the whole press worldwide greeted time with arms wide open giving them all the credit etc .... I don't know the numbers but I'm sure they came close to making the most front cover of magazines in the shortest time span after their market launch )
actually they blew up in the UK first because they were under a UK label...they didnt blow up in North America till lately...and half the people in North America dont even know who the fuck they are...well most do but alot dont...but i believe they are talented...and they didnt ripp off anything i dont think...i know white stripes did from Bob dillan and another band gah forgot their name but oh well thats the way show biz goes....no matter how u look at it theyre still very talented both bands are...
The strokes?
uh.. yeah, i stroke it all the time.

silly wanker

sorry dude, i wouldn't be doing it to you, you'll have to do that yourself.
bump
Love the strokes! I guess this thread hasn't been brought up after their release of Room on Fire so here goes.
Room on Fire is an excellent cd if you liked their debut album! style is the same (with the exception of 12:51 which is kinda 80's)...but they still pump out the short, sweet and melodic tunes! Although, in the middle of the cd (particularly You Talk Too Much and Meet Me In The Bathroom) theres a few songs which don't really appeal to me, but the rest is pure gold! "What Ever Happened?" is a really addicting song, reptllia has an excellent chorus thats has some nice energetic vibe to it. automatic is ok but the lyrics are kinda..meh...12:51, the way it is and the end has no end are great, but the big surprise is Under Control. amazing ballad
anwyays...great cd, go buy it
p.s. White Stripes are awseme too
