just watched this, have been a fan of mike ruppert for a couple years but wow, this documentary just made me really look at the world and my life in a whole new light. crazy how everything hes been predicting for years is starting to happen. Ruppert can be a bit doom and gloomy at times, but there's no denying his intellect and ability to see the world and humanity for what it is: either in transition to something better or in its death throes. scary stuff, but also inspiring.

I've been wanting to watch this film for weeks but no damn theater is showing it here.

Sitting in a room that looks like a bunker, Ruppert recounts his career as a radical thinker and spells out the crises he sees ahead. He draws upon the same news reports and data available to any Internet user, but he applies a unique interpretation. He is especially passionate about the issue of "peak oil," the concern raised by scientists since the seventies that the world will eventually run out of fossil fuel. While other experts debate this issue in measured tones, Rupperts doesn't hold back at sounding an alarm, portraying an apocalyptic future. Listening to his rapid flow of opinions, the viewer is likely to question some of the rhetoric as paranoid or deluded, and to sway back and forth on what to make of the extremism. Smith lets viewers form their own judgments.

This film, and Ruppert, go much further than that. Oil dependency is just the appetizer. Then we get to Peak Oil (or the Hubbert Peak). Then an economy based on floated, imaginary, (fiat) money. And so on. Ruppert builds his case with hysterically grim anecdotes and considerable authenticity. It's difficult to disagree with him precisely because he doesn't allow 'theory' or partisan/ideological opinion to seep into the discussion. The facts are accurate. The conclusions... are up to you.

oooh, can't wait.

Nice trailer, finnally the doom sayers have got a bit of cash behind them.

I think that economic troubles always lead to a swath in the number and weight given to the people who predict end times. There was a period in the 80's, possibly after the savings and loan issues, where the end of capitalisim was predicted and a chunk of books hit the stands about the same topic (names like Post-capitalist society, or The end of the nation state).

Being a bit of a natural pesimist I find it hardest to try and think critically about if these voices who've got new breath are unique to our time or are they simply a sociological knee-jerk to confusion, missunderstanding and ignorance.

When a system fails the populus turns to the mistics, be they religious, scientific or economic.

Remember this statement: "there will be a recession in the next 20 years." When that happens, I'm going to take credit for predicting it.

Well, he is an ex-cop so there isn't much difference between him and Bernake.

you can stream it on ninja video guys. I watched it...the first half is really startling. He gets a little panicky later on, but I'm not really optimistic about the future either.

it all comes down to whether or not you believe humans will make the right fundamental choices when the time comes. I'm personally on the fence. I dont know if we are smart enough to avoid disaster, or if we will march straight into it.

sure, but the people in positions of power and influence aren't in the business of making decisions that are best for humanity or the planet. They never have, and they never will.

Thats such generic, populist nonsense. If I could be bothered I could post dozens of reforms or regulations that have been good for people as a whole.

This is retarded, we have what, a few thousands of years of recorded history under our belt and if what you say was true, we would still be in caves, not debating on a virtual forum each one of us halfway across the world.

Matter of fact, humanity never has been this far, this rich, in peace and in health. Say what you will, look around you, the comfort you live in and that alone will prove you wrong.
