Vocoding.....mmmmmm
So after selling my MS2000B a few months back I sadly missed the vocoder.
I've just bought myself an SE2000 mic so i'm looking at getting a vocoder VST.
So tell me what you use!!
I've tried TAL Vocoder and the free CM one (based on/actually is the FL one) but what else is out there.
Free or commercial
Is the new Image Line Vocodex as good as the videos showed it to be?
Not that this is helpful, but from the videos that FLS Vocoder looks unmatched.
Orange Vocoder is a classic if you can find it. Logic internal vocoder is very good as well.

Damn it i've just seen there's a demo of vocodex available. I'm sure there wasn't last time I looked. The inbuilt carrier is powered by Sytrus too. Sweet! I always thought Sytrus was madly underrated.
I've tried Orange and wasn't really a fan but i'll look into those other options too.
$99 is a bargain as well tbh. Works out to about 60
I shall make many robot tarnce for teh show
edit - I think all the MDA stuff is on my Cubase install disk. I must check

| Originally posted by cryophonik Same here. I tried it years ago and wasn't very impressed, especially for that price (it was around $400 IIRC!!!). Also, the demo version jacked up my OS and I couldn't get it completely off my HD until I reformatted. I wish ImageLine would give registered FLS owners a big break on the VST version of Vocodex. I mean, we already have it in FLS9, but I don't use FLS at all except to rewire it into Sonar/Cubase for Vocodex, so it would be nice if I could get the VST version of Vocodex for dirt cheap (free would be even nicer). |

| Originally posted by tehlord That's wierd. Wierd because I know I can open up Sytrus etc as VSTs in Cubase (i used to use FL) but now you've mentioned it I can't use the FL effects. Does vocodex not install as a .dll (that you can drag over to Sonar) in FL9 then? |
I'll take a look at my FL folder later as well, see what the skinny is.
Looking forward to doing 'the Decepticon' later
Vocodex is VERY good.
Absolutely no other choices imo.
can someone explain to me what a vocoder is.
