Ziptnf - Tefo Sifon [kickass amateur trance]

Hey guys, this is the stuff that I grew up listening to back from the early part of this decade. There are some serious stompers in here, some of you might have a hard time imagining that they were all made in FL Studio. Anybody who likes trance at all will surely be impressed by this set, even amateurs have quite a bit of skill!
Background
I was a member of the Toby Emerson Forums (TEFO) and Silexz-Studios Forums (SiFON) for a while and used to produce trance with a legit copy of Fruity Loops Studio. All of the artists on this mix were also members, and this is the best selection of tracks from them. I made Timeless when I was 14 years old, and I didn't know a whole lot about mastering, but I thought it was my personal best track. Enexor is one of my best friends who went to High School and swam competitively with me, he and I used to produce tracks together but we never actually finished one!
Tracklist
Toby Emerson - Blue Star
Ziptnf - Timeless
Saxxonpike - Fission (Enexor Remix)
DJ Pezz - The Last Time
Icewave - Beyond Clouds
Air - Spirits Soar
Hybrid Stasis - Arisen
Toby Emerson - Underwater
Sonic Ether - Nucleus
Sensorica - Triangle Reality (Dark Element Remix)
Toby Emerson - Liquify
Silexz - Force of Sound

I dropped the n-bomb in the Chris Henry thread because he died banging on the back window of his crying, freaked-out girlfriend's truck. Must have been a lovely man off the football field

Quite liked this set. Production wise the tracks might not be perfect but you can feel in a lot of them the emotion which was put. You structured them well, for an hour set it didn't had a progression which could become too hasty which is a good point. Just straightly put, one after another. Transitions were also ok. I wasn't disturbed at any point of the set. Also I liked the idea behind that set, its always nice to see something original and inspired from something personal. Thanks for the share zip!
Post-ban bump
Thanks for the review Mag, we may have not been the best at production, but we sure worked hard at it. I'm really pleased with this set, it takes me back to when I was just a little trancecracker
Hope you other fuckers listen too!
you really know how to make a man go moist.

listened to this when i got back from work today.
first of all, how the fuck did i miss this?? before reading through it all, i downloaded this on the basis of the quality artwork alone LOL
the 8bit blast with fruityloops motif? brilliant. you've pitched this just right, you've sold it to me already.
as for the content? well, in a word, fantastic. soda-pop shrink wrapped tracker-trance, fuck cracker-trance, they know fuck all about music. i know the production values could be improved, like mastering and all that technical shit but the way the individual tracks are composed...quality eagle.
i'd much rather listen to an hour of these tracks than the generic-everything-sounds-the-same uplifting progressive shit that is puked up on these digital labels at an alarming rate!
the self production is pretty good too, was that a fruityloops job?
(i produced some stuff in some of my sets too but they are very samey and a bit shitty lol) oats oats oats oats
my favorite track in this was probably Toby Emerson - Liquify just a great track, i feel wronged in missing this altogether. you played this at the exact right time in this set, im \o/ at this point LOL
overall a very well composed set from you zip, i am very pleased i found this, its rare to find something you reallllllly like and everything in this set to even the art work i liiiiike. a great fun, not so serious trance mix.xm
the artwork is brilliant.

Originally posted by ziptnf ![]() See, I told you guys I would finish it! There were several pain-in-the-ass tracks, ones that weren't beatgrid friendly whatsoever. In particular, those tracks were Tenshi and 1998, where the beatgrid kept getting out of sync, so I found myself having to adjust the beatgrid manually during transitions. I wish I had 3 arms ![]() Anyways, sorry for playing songs that have been beat to death for 10 years, but these are all my favorites. I mixed them harmonically. Enjoy! Beam vs Cyrus & The Joker - Launch in Progress Gouryella - Tenshi (Transa Remix) Ferry Corsten - Sublime (Thrillseekers Remix) Tiesto - Sparkles Rank 1 - Airwave Sasha - Xpander Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky (Wippenberg Remix) ATB - Summer Veracocha - Carte Blanche Binary Finary - 1998 (Paul Van Dyk Remix) Pulser - Cloudwalking Kaycee - Escape Darude - Out of Control [[ LINK REMOVED ]] |

track selection was good, choosing classics isnt very easy imo because theres just so many of them, this is a pretty consistant selection, refers back to my nexus 1999 mix, you keep it very 1998-2001. i like this period.

wtf is this mixing though lol
quote:
i remember mixing live with atomixmp3 in the early days of 2003 and i encountered some of these problems, my solution was to loop like the last 8 beats or whatever and mix in my new track, that way it 'anchors' the bass note/key at whatever and you can bring the next track in. i think it was the letter 'L' that did this and shift L was 8 beats/4 beats/whatever.

sure, some of it wasnt exactly perfectly sync'd but the keys were not far off, some pretty decent harmonic mixes in there...sparkles to airwave and escape to out of control, which btw is a fucking tune.

when i benchmark tefo and nabbit, there is a clear winner im afraid. purely because tefo is just awesome. this mix could of been better had the beatgrid thing didnt fuck you up. perhaps you could play the set again and post v2? you've got better since then and that guy eat his own words and fuck right off. right?

do another tefo.
