Road Trip!!

Its next to decided that a bunch of us Calgary peeps didnt get enuf tiesto, so were comin out there for him in Aug.

Advice on Hotels..cheap, can sleep a whole bunch and close to the venue.
How is it?*the venue*
and what kind of crowd is it? old? young? fucked up?
pat downs @ the door? tell me everything you can about it!

you mean at the commodore? hmmm, its a pretty nice place, holds about 1000 i think. last time i saw tiesto there they id'ed at the door, so most of the people were 19-30 or so, and no pat-downs. i didn't notice any fucked-up people either, everyone was really cool. i'll have to look into the hotel thing, in the mean-time, check out this site http://www.reservationtoday.com/hot...uver/BC/Canada/ and look for anything downtown. for more info on the commodore, go here http://www.clubvibes.com/listings/l...tail.asp?id=605

Commodore is one of the nicest, if not the nicest venue. Legal capacity is 999, they usually fit about 1100-1200 I think though for shows like Tiesto. The dancefloor is hueg and the club is completely centered around it, so it's perfect for this kind of event. Lighting and whatnot will depend entirely on the promoter, but sound is excellent.

It's in the heart of Downtown, on Granville half a block from Robson, so any hotel in the downtown area will do you perfectly. Not sure about rates, sorry, but make sure you stay away from hotels on Hastings and the eastside of downtown =P

Tons of places to do some pre-drinking before the show, no point listing them all off =P

We should definitely have an organized TA meet at this show since the CA and Van crew will be out in full effect.

Oh yeah, and they ID everyone at the Commodore regardless of appearance or the show. Make sure you have ID, they will turn you away 100% of the time without it. You can get in with fakes in case any of you are underage though, as long as the fake looks decent. I don't think I've ever been pat down there, but I've seen them pat down the odd guy. It's all for weapons though, they don't give a shit about drugs, which is pretty evident by the number of dialated pupils you'll see at shows such as Tiesto there =)

Hotels are getting pretty expensive now that it is summer. If you don't have tonnes of cash to spend on a hotel room maybe try a hostel. The run between $15-25 a night.

I work in tourism so I will check out some prices close to the venue.

And I have never been searched at the commodore.

You are looking at over a hundred bux for a hotel in downtown, more depending on how many people. There are some cheaper dumps a little further away from the venue but....

ok..so going on your advice..some guys, maybe 1 girl coming from calgary on limited budget. Well be there 2 nights, leave on the 14th, see tiesto on the 15th and come home the 16th

There is the there are a few cheaper hotels within about a 10-15 walk from the venue....

Chateau Best Western Granville(closest)
Ramada - Graville
Howard Johnson - Granville
Holiday Inn - Howe
Best Western - Drake
Travel Logde - Howe
Quality Inn at False Creek - Howe(Furthest)

I would guess the Travel Lodge is cheapest but if you guys give me the exact amont of ppl going I can get an exact price.

yes, commodor is truly a nice place
IDs, make sure that they are 'good'
last december it took us some good convincing at the doors. the bouncer wouldnt let my friend in cause she only had an international student ID and she doesnt wanna bring her pasport to parties. the dude only let us in cause he thought we paid $30 for our tix

the crowd is great, i thought. no lame pimp wannabes. loatsa cool ppl who know their mucis. actually, i didnt see very many kandy ravers there. its definately an older crowd, lots of ppl in their mid and upper 20s, an odd few older ppl (30's-40s)

is it the same ppl bringing tiesto who brought him in december?

The venue has a capcity of 999 and also trance music is not very big in Vancouver so I would be definatly shocked if it sold out.

thats 7, which is a mini van full...
drop one (dan) and weve got a nice trip. So rooms for 6..my guess is that myself and Rachel will have one room..and the other 4..2 rooms? 1 room? who knows...its up to them. We will have it organized by next week.

WOOHOO!!!! Rachel is all excited to go out, shes never been to the coast, and I havent been since grade 11-12 summer(aka 4 years ago)
We will leave Sat AM, arrive late that night, spend Sunday doing touristy things(Granville probably, and of course Virgin megastore) then hit up Tiesto that night. Check out Monday @ 11 and drive home.

so if you all wanna do something Sunday, im sure we could hook it up.

the for sure list right now is Myself shock and Rachel. if we get 2 others, the trip is 100% for sure.
