Music deranges me
I have thought for a long time that music sort of deranges me. I find that when I go without it I am less irritable, less prone to mood swings, and able to think more clearly. So I have stopped listening to it, at least for now.
Anyone else experience this?
If anything the exact opposite.
When I listen to music it makes me not want to have kids.
It's definitely a distraction in my life and I have known it to cause problems for me...so I would have to agree with you.
you should try talk radio.
makes it easier to pretend you're smart.
looool wtf are you guys on about.... music is about the one thing that has never ever come close to remotely negatively affecting me
I've spent countless hours just sitting here listening to loud music. Not that enjoying myself is a bad thing, but at least if I were playing WoW I'd have an uber l33t character by now.
For some reason I don't feel this way when I listen to classical. As if just listening to Mozart was accomplishing something.
From a gut feeling that is not supported by any evidence or reason whatsoever, I call depression.

Well then it must be Lupus.
Oh most definitely.
I used to destress to 180-240bpm gabber/techno/hardcore stuff. It's incredibly fast sometimes and some of the people who play it have a great talent for doing so and it kinda stimulated my head. I think I'd be worse without music though.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
I can't go 24 hours without any music.
It's just my simple reasoning that music is something enjoyable, and not being able to enjoy it anymore is a sign of depression.
If going without it feels fine for you then note my bafflement, get a Lupus test and continue as you please.
Melody is a relaxant for me, especially in times of stress or tension.
music definitely levels me out, emotionally. the only time it frustrates me is if i'm listening to the wrong kind of music to fit my mood.
when i used to listen to fast, noisy music, anything that didn't go my way would irritate me. i no longer listen to metal, rap or trance, i no longer blast the speakers, and i no longer have that problem. some house, techno, classic rock, reggae or classical--depending on the occasion--keeps me pretty level throughout the day. loud and noisy music physiologically induces stress hormones so it makes sense that some kinds of music would make you irritable.
I think any music affects me in the way I outlined above, although I suspect faster and louder types have a stronger effect.

What is it you're trying to fix, JBJ, by constantly giving up things?
