Team Canada hockey 2010 selections noon today

"Hockey fans can watch live streaming video of Canada's men's 2010 Olympic hockey team announcement today, here on CTVOlympics.ca starting at noon ET. They can also share their reactions in a live chat room, where hockey experts will pop in to offer analysis and talk with readers.

Hockey writer Eric Duhatshek and Olympic play-by-play announcer Peter Loubardias plan to drop by the chat room to react with fans. Hayley Wickenheiser, four-time Olympian for Canada's women's hockey team, will also add some Twitter commentary in our chat room.

The one-hour special from Saskatoon, Sask. will be hosted by Olympic Prime Time host Brian Williams. Olympic analysts Daren Millard, Gord Miller and Pierre McGuire will join him while a panel of Nick Kypreos, James Duthie and Bob McKenzie will provide instant analysis and reaction.

The announcement will air exclusively on CTV, TSN, Rogers Sportsnet, OLN, OMNI, APTN, ATN, /A\, CTV News Channel, CP24, CP24 and NHL Network. The FAN 590 Toronto, The FAN 960 Calgary and Corus Quebec's CKAC Sports will air it on the radio."

I can't believe what a big deal they are making this out to be. The Fan590 has been talking about it all morning.

Yeah I was watching the TSN broadcast..they're actually stretching this to a one hour TV event. Overkill.

its bad enough I have to hear about the shitty leafs all the time. now im going to have to put up with hearing about team canada until the olympics are done. booooooooooooooring.

someone's gonna get injured and probably replaced over the next six weeks and someone will get injured during the Olympics, I'm sure. I'd like to see a comprehensive list of players from each NHL team playing in the tourney.

I would think Detroit must be near the top.

PS, not a fan of overrated Joe Thorton and the goaltending

I look at the defence lineup and I don't recognize 2/3 of them. holy shit i haven't been keeping up with hockey in a long time

Canada has the most depth in the tourny.
Bergeron is a huge surprise and should be replaced with St. Louis.
Russia's KHL team will have issues down the stretch and will struggle to defend in every game.

Brodeur is still the best goalie in the league and probably in the game right now (yes, at age 38). I can't see how he doesn't start.

I'm optimistic. I think that goaltending is our biggest advantage, followed by a very solid defense-corp. Markov is a beast on the Russians though.

I think our forwards stack up well against the Russians, I think their top 2 lines beat ours (though Crosby and the San Jose don't look too shabby at all), but our 3rd and 4th lines should be stronger than theirs. Champion teams usually win because their bottom players outshine the other team's.

Ovechkin and Malkin can win games on their own, but so can Crosby and Brodeur (who only seems to get better with age, look at the year he's having!).

It's gonna be an awesome Olympics, either way. So many good players are going to be on the Ice in REAL competition, not some slack, half-assed All-Star game.

The us-can game was BS... i mean there were way more penalties againts Canada and not enough against the Americans...

there was one play that outraged me.. when the american forward butt checked Brodeur.. i was stunned that there was no goalie interference..


i have to say that was some shiet reffin

miller was way better than brodeur..and usa team wanted this game..canada team not so much..

with shot totals 45 to (17-20 roughly) im pretty sure canada wanted this more than the us. but was stopped because of miller.

if it was any other goalie im sure canada wouldve won. but i wouldnt say that canada wanted this game any less than the us.

dont get me wrong i was cheering for canada all the way...
the empty net goal shows how much usa wanted this..

If anything lossing to the US was a good thing. We had to go to overtime vs the swiss who we should have smoked. I think this will put some fire under their asses to play at their best for the rest of the games.

Yeah we really should have killed the Swiss.

They're team is mostly made up of AHL level players.

Hiller played amazing in that game, though.

If these professionals need a loss to get a fire lit under their ass then they shouldn't be playing in this tournament.

Agree. Canada is over confident they don't have the hunger some of the other teams have. Canada is also at a disadvantage because every team in the tournament really wants to beat them. So pretty much if we don't play like our lives depend on it.... no gold.
