anyone got any non-drug based ways of getting rid of insomnia, i cant get to sleep until ive been lying in my bed for hours it drives me crazy! please help!

this may sound like dumb advise but its true.... drink some alcohol before you go to bed, like 2 drinks or so. ever notice how when you're really drunk the time between you laying in your bed (or anywhere for that matter) and falling asleep is so much shorter then it would have been normaly... there's a reason they call it a night-cap
this may also sound like a wives tail but its true too. when you warm up milk it releases a natural chemical that puts you to sleep, so a hot cup of choaco will ease you to sleep.
smoke weed, wack off, work out excessively , read a book....
STRAIN your body physically, TRUST me you'll sleep. IF that doesn't work, add warm turkey meat and a glass of warm milk to the equation. If THAT doesn't work, I suggest to ask your best buddy to punch you out.
Im an insomniac too i hate it...ill lay awake for hours just lost in my own thoughts....time goes by so quick.....but its true smoking weed and whanking does put u too sleep....

watch the same movie every night while you're trying to fall asleep. it works. once you start sleeping regularly again, you can switch-up your movie selections...
or just wack-off lol

just stay awake, you'll get sleepy eventually
Step 1: Headphones
Step 2: CD Player
Step 3: Chilled Euphoria CD (Mixed by Red Jerry or Solar Stone CD2)
Step 4: GOODNIGHT!
I sit in bed and just think the whole time too, but if u try out this method and get into the music u'll be out in no time.
just force yourself to wake up early one day and you'll be so tired at night you will just knock out. if all fails keep going to sleep later and later, eventually you'll reach going to sleep at night again.
my prob before was everyday i would go to sleep at like 4-5...so i just stayed up all day so i didn't get sleep for a day and then i went to sleep at like 9 aclock the next day, so everyday now i go to sleep at 11 now

solution...bang you head on the corner of your desk until you black out...then you'll wake up...
the only downside is that you some times wake up in a pool of blood LOLS...ok maybe not the best method but hey...it's knocked me out before or should I say i knocked myself out..

try lying on your side and putting a pillow between your knees/calf area...iono for some reason dat shit knocks me out...i guess its comfort~

Listen to some boring late night AM radio show. My friend likes to leave the tv on.
take some nyquil (not to sure abt spelling) and wank it if that doesnt work i usually go to plan b which is usually the same as plan a , wank it.

put on some chill music maybe an ISOS or some chicane
watch tv with the volume low

Fresh air,go for a walk it helps me sometimes.
A other way is to go visit a doctor and ask if he could get you some
valiums, imovane or something like that.
But I dont now if you see that as drugs..

this is hard to fight
I've always been bad at sleeping, and there are only three things that help when I'm lying there awake staring at my ceiling:
1) Booze: If you have some red wine available, neck two glasses as quickly as you can. You aren't drunk, but it certainly makes you feel woozy enough to sleep, but not so woozy that you end up with a hangover. May sound unhealthy, but consider the health benefits that red wine has been proven to cause mate.
2) Sleeping Pills: not the chemical, prescription stuff though, because it's too easy to become "dependant" on them in that you can't sleep without one in you. Try the natural stuff - it doesn't know you out, but relaxes you and thus makes it easier to sleep.
3) Don't sleep: if you don't feel tired, ffs don't go to bed. If you get into the habit of staying up till 5am writing messages on trance forums (ahem) just stay awake all day and go to bed at some reasonable hour the next night. You'll get your sleeping pattern back in no time. Or, alternatively, only go to bed when you feel tired. You'll start associating your bed with sleep rather than something else.
I may be drunk right now, but that oughta help I'm thinking.
