blastin some cheesy tracks.....

have u guys ever experienced when you were in a someone's car ..and that person was blasting some really cheesy song.that made you feel embarss even to look out the window?? This guy is my friend's cousin and is newbie for trance..so he likes to download whatever trance/house mp3s.. and burn into a cd listenin in his car, he dun really care who's the dj and whether the song is new or not..so.watever sounds good to him is alrite..so that nite.. me and couples of my friends were in his car headin to rave..that nite was a hugh event..so a lot of cars were jammin to get into the parklot includin us... at that time suddenly...that crazy dude turned the volumes to the highest while sandstorm was playin in his cdplayer.. oh mygod.. at that moment..i dunno wat to say to him. and i will be rude to tell him that i dun like the song and plus he can do watever he wants in his car..so i kept my silence while everybody lookin at us from the outside.. it really isn't a big deal.but it just makes me feel uncomfortable.. wat u guys think?? i hope i am not the only one feel that way..

most people outside the trance scene don't really care about "cheesey" tracks... so i'm sure you're one of the few people that cared...

likewise.

one of my friends has a 1991 plymouth aclaim (his GRANDMOTHER gave it to him when she bought a new one) and he pimped it out with 2 subs and assloads of new speakers and stuff(doesnt change the fact that its a 1991 plymouth aclaim). if we go the movies or something he cruises around the parking lot a few times acting all cool cause his system is worth more then his car. when im sitting shotty i just kinda hide my head in shame.

LOL!!! Sandstorm? I was reading your story and anticipating what song it would turn out to be. I nearly busted a nut laughing when you mentioned Sandstorm. God, I would've died laughing if I was there or be embarassed as hell if I was in the car. I know exactly how you must feel.

Sad We were all once like that

Sadly, yes, we were all once like that. I think I was caught playing Darude, Ian Van Dahl, and other cheese trance tracks out of my car fairly loud only 1.5 years ago... to top it off, I thought I was all that..

damn, how times have changed.

Cheers

i don't think he should be embarrassed. if he likes the song, let him be. not everyone has had such a good exposure to trance that they recognize cheese.

there are far worse things he could blast from his radio.

Isn't that the way it should be? Why should he care if say Tiesto came out with a new song that he think sucks, just because it isnt cheese? And since when is the rave scene about conforming to what other people think? If he likes the music let him listen. Im sure all of us like one cheese song or another.

I do like cheesey songs.. and i like a lot of them too but it's not like i have to shout it out and tell everybody... "Bloodin is pumpin" always playin in my car till now but i don't blast..

Dude there is no need to worry if your scene is anthying like mine then the locals would have prolly not payed any attention at all because it wasnt either happy hardcore/ Drum n Bass / or House

Whenever I talk trance to people in my local scene I feel so much smarter than them lol but thats ok cause everyone like their own music and stuff

Posted by grafal on Jul-10-2002 02:44:

I have this happen to me everyday in friends cars. And I simply make fun of them by saying some witty remarks like

"What's that smell?"
"Oh I know, its friggen cheese now turn it off"

I dont know if they like it or not but I cant drive around in public blaring shit.

Posted by Tyrant on Jul-10-2002 04:11:

Sandstorm ain't that bad...wait till you DJ Jean - The Launch...launching away....now that's bad....

I myself love cheesy tracks...nothing to be ashamed off, it's not as if you produced the cheese....even if you have the equipment, it takes talent to produce real Cheddar....

My favourite Swiss : Cosmic Gate - Somewhere over the Rainbow

Cheese is defined as a tune that draws your attention with its synths and basslines on your 1st listen....

Want quality? Produce your own and you'll know how hard it is...

did you know 75% of people will think your weird even listening to trance? so why are you ashamed when its all the same to many people.

in my area, ravers are looked down on now. the only people that go raving now here is the newbies that started late and the slangers to sell drugs to those newbies.

Posted by lMIlk on Jul-10-2002 07:23:

yea ravers are gay in so cal

Posted by HyPeRSoNiC on Jul-10-2002 12:25:

each person has his own personal taste. I don't think it should matter if a certain track is considered cheese or not.... if he likes it - then it's all good.
I remember I used to mix Ian Van Dahl - Castles in the sky (non vocal mix) in my sets.... and I loved that track!!!!

but that's just me... and personaly, I have a very broad taste in music. I sometimes listen to DnB in my spare time, and in my sets I mix all sorts all sorts of electronic music.... from trance/house, to dance and even disco-house.

but again, that's just me

Posted by k.k.d. on Jul-10-2002 16:02:

hahaha... my non-trancer friends were embaraced of riding in my car when i had ISOS3 playing out loud, lol. "Turn down the ****** music plz", lol.. but my car = my territory, I listen to whatever I want and put volume however high i want, and dont give rat's ass about what the person in the next car thinks
