Virus TI Patches On Earlier Models?

Does anyone know if patches designed on the Virus TI can be loaded onto previous models? They've updated the OS on even the Virus A just a few months ago so I'm thinking it's possible.

If no one knows, can someone try getting the patch bank from my website (just put in 0.00 as the price), and loading it up on their non-TI Virus? Make sure you have the latest OS...

Thanks!

Not sure where you're looking, but as far as I can see the last update for Virus A was in 2007 -- http://www.access-music.de/page/ren...e_virus_ti.html The release in 2009 seems like it was just a German version of the already released OS2.8 (English release in 2007).

I highly doubt TI patches would work on the A.
You're right though, someone should try!

I'm trying to find the link where on some forum I was reading like 2 days ago, where someone who had an A had tryed doing exactly what you said and reported that it did not work.

Was looking for free TI banks but don't remember the site, trying to find right now!

Well it worked up until the Virus TI. And it is technically possible. As I said, all they have to do is release an OS for the Virus A/B/C that reads TI patches and just reverts to a default for everything. Like they did with the Moog filter type ... A/B models just reverted to standard LP when loading a Virus C patch that used the Moog filter.

I've got a few to work on the B synth but you're probably better off finding patches for you specific machine, or just be a man and design your own.

That's what I want to know! If my patches will work on a previous virus model...

Interesting that some will work but not others. I guess it will read it if there is nothing written to the patch about Hypersaw and such. Thanks!

Hypersaw was a feature introduced in TI series, not available on previous models. Same goes for number of other functions, including the various FX modes and modulation routing. Some patches may work on C or earlier models but would sound different or in an unexpected way, all depends on patch structure - e.g. what it uses (FX, slots, etc).

i didn't try it yet. but could do it when i'm back in the studio. but i'm pretty sure that you can load the TI patches on the older models as well. of course all settings for the newer features are just ignored on loading. usually the sysex standard is used in the way that each feature/controller has a dedicated number and a assigned value for it. and afaik access said at some point that they kept the controller IDs consistent over all models.

That would be awesome, thanks!

I can confirm that the patches works with the KB! They all are totally dry, no effects, but yes they will work! Only few of them were with no sound at all.

I loaded some Virus TI patches into my Rack XL (rack version of the C) years ago and, as I recall, they loaded fine and most worked, but some patches sounded obviously different than intended, a few didn't work at all, etc.

Awesome, that's great to hear, thanks! I didn't program any of them with FX.

So, it's allright then. I thought that the KB could not understand TI's effects. Just so used to that all the soundbanks are full of effects. You know...
