Anyone else watching this game??

absolute pandemonium in Regina right now!!!

Canada down 2 goals with minutes to go, and they come back to tie AGAIN...heading to overtime right now....

Easily the greatest single hockey game of the decade.

Such an intense game. The first 2 periods I was just chilling out, yelling at the tv a few times. The last 15minutes of the 3rd period I was standing up yelling going nuts haha.

Overtime baby! Wooooooooo!

wow, just tuned in to the 3rd period. So intense. Canada's goalie let 1 horrible goal in. Thank god for Eberle and company for the comeback

This is going to get me put onto some kind of CSIS Terror Watch list I'm sure, but..

Why didn't that last defender just use his body to block the shot or throw his f****** stick lol He was just standing in the middle like an idiot. Gave the goal scorer all day to shoot....

Who cares if its 2 on 1, go for the f****** puck!

Bear in mind these kids are rookies, they're by no means seasoned like we're used to seeing in the NHL. Thing is, they cocked up HUGE in the other end and while it might have made sense to us after the fact to play man-to-man, playing the zone makes better on-ice sense on a risk / reward basis and I would think it wouldn't generate a screen - something that Goalie would have had NO chance of compensating for.

Bingo. The only time you should be blocking shots is if they're taking shots from the point and they've got two men deep trying to generate a screen or catch easy rebounds. Otherwise, all you're doing is causing more chaos for whoever's between the pipes.

Our defence, back checking, and goal tending was horrid in the game. i couldn't bare watching this game and just watch the usa walk all over us. a very weak performance on canada's part.

Awesome game! It's too bad the gold streak ended, but 12 years in a row with medals ain't too bad either. At least we lost to a team worthy of winning. The Yanks were strong this year.

1: You can't throw your stick.
2: When you're the defender on a 2 - 1 rush, the standard play is to prevent the cross ice pass to the other forward.
It's much harder for the goalie to save a cross-ice one timer than a shot where he's watching the forward with the puck all the way. The Canadian defenceman played it properly. Jones, the Canadian goalie, was just straight up beat.

Carlson scored an awesome goal! He wasn't even looking at the net when he shot. He picked his spot from his peripheral, while his eyes were locked on to his team mate giving the impression he was about to pass.

1. Sure you can lol! It would just result in a penalty shot (haha last resort!)
2. I realize it is standard play and he is trying to cut off the pass but he gave the forward too much time/space to shoot.

But then again I'm no pro, at least they tried

yeah, he could of pressured the shooter a bit more but was still one hell of a shot!

We should have lost on New Years Eve, but got lucky.

Their forwards were just way too fast for our defense, and we didn't have all-star goalies like we have in the past to bail us out when our skaters coughed up odd-man rushes.

I don't think I'm the only one that's annoyed that #7 was skating to the right side of the net for some unknown reason on the rebound that led to the winning goal, correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the left-winger have stayed on his side of the net, possibly even hanging back a bit for JUST such a rebound?

Those boys looked like the Leafs last night...

Piss poor puck handling and shitty passing...

+1....The USA was the best team in the tournament...hands down.

So now that the USA has won the Under 17 and Under 20 I am making my prediction that the USA will win the Women's Olympic Hockey Gold and the Men's Olympic Hockey Gold.
