Is Rogers getting really slow lately

I just moved up to Markham and switched from Bell hse to Rogers. The first week I was getting speeds of 350+ downloads so I was happy that I didn't get hit with the Rogers speed cap. This week I can't seem to get more than 150 kb/s. This is really pissing me off, how they can cut my speed in half without even telling me and I had to go on the net to find out about it. I fucking hate rogers!!!

Posted by bluE_Neon on Jul-09-2002 14:23:

yes, well i still get high speed 250-350kb/sec here in the area where i live, but thats only a matter of time when their gonna put the caps on bandwith

Posted by Trancewave on Jul-09-2002 14:48:

yup, i got hit by the rogers speed cap. Can't get anything more than 150 no matter what I try. And the bandwidth cap is on the way soon too.

Read this:http://www.itbusiness.ca/index.asp?...lid=1&sid=49201

They fucking halved the speed? WTF?

Posted by USMC_Greg on Jul-09-2002 15:40:

I'm a Rogers user and I noticed right away. It happend 2 or 3 weeks ago in my area. And it pisses me off. If we are only getting half the service, shouldn't we be paying half the bill?

Still, Gupta said the changes were made to improve, rather than limit, the average customers' broadband experience. She said a small percentage of heavy-use customers were slowing down the service of the remaining users. In other words, people were hogging the bandwidth.

Well you could always upgrade your fucking servers instead of cheating the fucking customers out of their money! You fucking crackers!

This is Gramps -- he wants to know wtf is going on with his internet!??!?!

Posted by Blue. on Jul-09-2002 16:38:

Now it's only half high speed so I think we should pay half the price

Posted by Trancewave on Jul-09-2002 17:39:

okay, I understand that on their policy agreement it says they can make ammendmants (sp?) to their service without notifying us. But for F###'s sake, cutting our speed by half while promoting 3mbps is pretty drastic! WTF! They say that 90-95% of people won't notice the difference? Who the fk are they kidding? They assume 95% of people out there with high speed are stupid? They hook you in with promises of 3mbps downloads and then cut your service by half and INCREASING THE F###KING PRICE!!!!

If you're a Bell subscriber right now thinking about switching over to Rogers to get away from Bell's monthly bandwidth cap, DON'T BOTHER! The only reason Roger's don't have one yet is so that they can hook all the people in from Bell. Once they have enough people they will make revisions to their service! Bloody Wankers!!!!!

WTF well then why the fuck are they doing it? So 5% get faster speed?

Posted by Fir3start3r on Jul-09-2002 20:53:

I haven't noticed anything yet...

Posted by Crazy Serb on Jul-10-2002 02:16:

Well I've noticed it big time... this piece of shit Rogers is now only like 4-5 times faster than regular dial up (when it comes to regular internet browsing) and like 10-15 times faster when it comes to downloading music, viewing videos and shite... I can't even view the video streams that were encoded for DSL/cable customers due to the lack of bandwidth. Fucken bastards... and they increase the price by $5, without even letting us know!

Does anyone know any satellite internet providers in Toronto, cuz I'm fucken sick of Rogers! Their TV channels suck ass, digital cable is piece of shit and it freezes every 10 seconds (should I even bother mentioning shitty channel selection?!), their internet service is just getting worse and worse (and more expensive) and their wireless phone service just blows...

Money hungry bastards . Well I hear theres a nice DSl company with no speed caps and no limits. My ex told me about it and I might get signed with them.

I looked into that satellite ISP, and you only get 400kps up with it.

With Rogers I was getting 1.2 to 1.6 mbps (with all the tweaks I used). After the "cut" in service I went down to 450kps, but I tweaked it again and I'm back up to 600kps. So I'm better off staying with my current ISP -- rogers.

Oh man it will be a glorious day when I find out how to remove the cap on my cable modem!!! Until then I'll be forced to use all these gay tweaks and shit.

first go to www.speedtest.com and test your cable speed.
then go to http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_mod...e_patches.shtml and find the patch that's right for you.

You may want to install want to use these patches in conjuction with some software such as Dr. TCPIP or Skylam Dial-Up. There are also programs you can get from site listed above.

When you retest your cable speed (after your reboot of course) make sure you clear your browser's cache or else you may be just testing your HDD speed.

Sweet thanks . I'll have to check out those patches .

every hitech service in Canada sux big time, those cellphone companies, they are all the same, offer the same thing for the same price, the cellphones are crap, xcept for those $800 ones, that cost only $50 in europe, networks suck, roaming charges are way to high that goes to cellphone companies.

now TV companies, the only legal ones are Rogers Cable, Bell Xpress Vu, and Star Choice (i think), they all offer the same CRAP for the same price (wtf, where is competition)

Canadian government banned all of the satellite companies operating here that offer whatever u want channel, damn...

Now the only good thing here was fast internet which I did not see in Europe 4 years ago (now they have DSL too) but it's going down now too.
the sad thing is that u can't do anything about it...

Isn't collusion considered a crime in the corporate world? Sure sounds like some backroom meetings have taken place somewhere.

Corporate POWER!!!
