Watergate 05: Ellen Allien

quote:
Ellen Allien is next in line to compile an edition of the Watergate mix series.

Beginning with the ethnic minimal stylings of Onur zer in July of last year, the Watergate mix series has spanned entries from Sascha Funke, Konrad Black and most recently Sebo K, who blended classic-rooted deep house with contemporary club cuts on his October released effort. For number five in the series, the Kreuzberg venue has turned to another of their long standing residentsEllen Alliento take the controls.

Watergate 05 is a single disc, 16-track affair that cuts a somewhat breezier figure than her previous commercially available mix efforts for fabric and BPitch's Boogy Bytes series. John Tejada, Luciano, Alexi Delano and Royksopp all make the grade on this occasion, while the sound of her own imprint comes under representation from Aerea Negrot and AGF/Delay. In a similar twist to Sebo K remixing Martyn's "Elden St" on the last installment, Allien sets to work on Uffie's "Pop The Glock," a cut that saw the light of day exclusively on digital download store Beatport in the middle of November.

Looks pretty good on paper.

the Dop version Fine Mouche is the bees knees. The Piano Tango mix is ok, but lacks energy.

Agreed, but it's a good tool or intro/outro track

This does look pretty interesting...Sebo K's watergate mix was pretty solid.

Upon first listen I really don't know what to think of it. It has some very good tracks, but it has two or three awful ones too.

Some interesting tracks... some of the mixing I find is weird
