google chrome

..any good?

i use firefox at the moment. i had used IE for a long long time, as i dont like change much, but when i got firefox i realised its not too dissimilar to IE but just a damn site better.

Is it worth replacing firefox with google chrome? and more importantly is it much different layout wise?.. and is it easy to use?

easy to use, fast, and clean..but no cool extensions like Firefox.

hmm .. i think the only extra i use on firefox is persona's anyways

It's my main browser. It's really light, unlike Firefox, and is very easy to use. Back in my old job, I convinced a bunch of +50 year old ladies to use Chrome and, guess what? They had no trouble using it

I only keep Firefox for the extensions. Opera is yet another great browser, but it isn't nearly as light as Chrome. Quite on the contrary, it's more like a Swiss Knife, full of goodies... though it's still lighter than Firefox.

Pretty much sums it up. I used it for a month or two, but returned to Firefox because I like its bookmark system more. Oh, and Adblock Plus and Image Zoom extensions. I don't know what it's like to browse the web surrounded with ads anymore.

what makes a browser 'light?'

really great on windows, still use safari on my macbook though

Posted by yukii on Jan-10-2010 20:03:

google chrome is clean & fast for sure.
however, i've stayed with firefox bc it works best for me, i do love the extensions and to be honest, i don't particularly like how chrome lays out your websites, i prefer having the buttons i use the most- i use wikipedia a lot & i have the little search at the top which is ideal.

see, i like my buttons & wiki search at the top & i prefer having a dark screen, it bothers my eyes less.

Extensions are coming. Google wins Firefox I'm afraid this time.

Simple and Clean. Shame Google can't make phones for shit, everything else they do rocks.

Oh, you can set that up on Chrome too. Instead of having that search box, however, you have to type something like "Wiki", press TAB, and it'll automatically turn your address bar into a search bar. In the beginning, you have to type it all (i.e. "en.wikipedia.org", but you can customise that later).

well.... if chrome is so great AND comes out with the extensions then i just might switch..

..might

Posted by Sushipunk on Jan-11-2010 07:55:

Chrome is pretty good, I use it for my default browser now. It's nice and quick, but not really THAT much quicker than FF. My main reason for the switch was a few months ago, when FF suddenly started taking 30+ seconds to load, and was freaking out on sites with fancy login pages, like ebay /internet banking etc. It doesn't any more, but I never switched back, because I'm lazy

I use Chrome/Firefox on my office laptop (Win XP) and just got the Beta version for Mac on my MBP. I have to say that it works WAY better on Mac OSX than on Windows even if the Mac version is still Beta.

One thing I do hate is a ridiculous error I get on Beatport after browsing it for a while (on both Win and Mac versions). At any random point within my session, the Back and Forward buttons on Beatport stop working and whenever I click on let's say, an Artist or a release it goes to that page, displays it for like a second and then goes back to where I was. The only way to fix it is to refresh the tab, but then it's only a matter of time until it happens again.

That doesn't happen on Firefox or Safari.

I pretty much use Chrome for everything these days. My only gripe is it's a bit cumbersome setting up bookmarks at this time.

I love the Incognito feature!

Really struck a nerve, eh?

Posted by igottaknow on Jan-11-2010 17:48:

I use Chrome, I just hope that the hipsters haven't caught on yet.

Posted by Pokit on Jan-11-2010 19:06:

I prefer chrome on every aspect over firefox except for an extension or two that I used in firefox, and the way downloading files works in chrome bugs me too.
