Buying a car

So I've been in Asia for about 3 years now and I plan on moving back later this year. Since I've been living abroad for so long, I really don't know what cars have been out recently that are good or that have been released to the states.

I should have up to about 25k to spend.

So if you had that amount of money what would you get and why? A

New or Used car is ok, I just want an opinion of whats out there right.
