I'm new to trance, need some suggestions based on music i already like

Hi there, guys!

I'm really new to trance and electronic music at all..

I enjoy listening songs like "The sound of goodbye" (Armin van buuren i think), and Satellite by Oceanlab.

As you noticed I like female vocals, with catchy "chorus" and this progressive (am I right to call it this way?) beat.

Could you guys point me out some good stuff that sounds like this?

The Eternal (Re:Locate Remix) - Hydroid
White Sand (DJ Shah's Original Mix) - Sunlounger

most of those songs aren't even trance but whatever

Rain - Armin van Buuren
Wasted - Luminary

Also, read THIS thread for... educational purposes.

Thank you for this!

I'm reading the thread you gave me.

As for "most of this songs aren't even trance" I knew that for asking for songs like this here I would see some answers like this (even if that answer wasn't really directed to me), but well, i'm really starting to it, so I think I could use some "easy-listening" songs right now

Here are some of the real trance songs (progressive trance) that got me into trance:

The song you posted is not really trance, I would call it cheesey pop dance. If you like vocals, try the very last vid (BT - Mercury and Solace).

You may need some time to ease into the "real trance" thread before you can start to appreciate it... The above 5 songs had powerful impacts on my musical tastes. I used to love cheesy pop dance also, but after you listen to it enough you realize its the same shit changed up a bit, overproduced, and spit back out. Quite simply put, the music has no soul or depth anywhere near the above 5 songs.

If all you want is cheesy dance pop, go to trance.nu till you grow out of it.

This is hilarious. You slag of the guys tracks for being pop dance but you post a track which is full of vocals.

The difference is the BT track has depth to it... Not a big fan of vocal trance besides this song, but he did ask for similar songs... The above songs were good "icebreakers" to trance for me.

How can you even compare mercury and solace to satellite

That is so fucking wrong man

I'm not saying it's a bad song. It's nice, though far from BT's best track. I was refering to your comment on his tracks.

But were my comments not true?

Satellite > Mercury & Solace imo

The vocals in mercury & solace sound absolutely horrible whereas I find the vocals in satelite to be very pleasing to listen to.

I consider Satellite the epitome of everything vocal trance should not be...

The vocals in mercury and solace are dark and mysterious open to interpretation, entrancing, yes maybe a little cheesy, but just listen to the vocals in sattelite.... I don't think I have ever heard lamer upfront pure cheesefest vocals... "baby baby baby" just fucking awful imo. I think of these vocals when I think of elevator music.

just my opinion and I know you are entitled to yours.

Online, most of us buy or music legally via:

Beatport
iTunes
TrackItDown
Juno Downloads

just a few examples

Alot of people also use discogs to buy physical releases.

seriously? the vocals in Satellite are a joke. Seriously some of the most annoying I've heard in a dance tune.

Mercury & Solace is a better track but the vocals destroys both the original and transa's remix

I didn't like the vocals the first few times through, but I find them now to go very well with the song. IMO its one of those songs that gets better with every listen.

I like the Dub Mix of this most: http://www.discogs.com/BT-Mercury-A...2/release/18445

It isnt exactly a Dub Mix, because it features a loads of the original vocals, but not all. Perfect track.

I sometimes agree with some of your posts, but not this one. At all.

lol I guess I'm the only one who likes Satellite.

I don't care, I still think it's a great song.

That is actually a decent track. It would be better with certain parts of the vocals cut out though.

However, their vocalist absolutely ruins it in every single other track, lol. She makes that not quite singing talking noises when she tries to spit out extremely corny rhymes... and it just makes the track hopeless.... above and beyond trully have fallen into a dumpster of rotten cheese.

I recommend the first three volumes of Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise compilations.

Music sounds better when you pay for it Goddamn kids & their 128kbps rips of Deadmau5.

I'm still positive the OP is a fake account looking to start a 'that isn't real trance' debate...
