How to beard?

Dudes, I'm gonna crank a mad beard. However, I am concerned about how to deal with the part that extends below my jaw line, onto my neck. Do I shave along my jaw line or what?

I want it neat and short, somewhat like George Clooney, not an animal strapped to my face.

I'd probably fuck George Clooney.

Anyway.

What's your facial hair like? Really thick like mine? Thin and piss-weak? What do you even look like?

Beards can look really odd on some people, so the questions are necessary, unless you want to look like a shabby terrorist.

Give me a sec, I'll get a photo. I grow hair pretty quick and the hairs are really thick, but they are quite spaced out. I get even growth (not patchy and holes etc.), there just seems to be a fair bit of distance between the hairs.

Whenever I have had one I go past the jawline. I follow the hairline down under the ears then cut in so that the hairline sits just above my adams apple - kinda where my neck and head join, if that makes sense. So I take off the bottom half of the neck beard so that under my chin is still covered.

But everybody's facial hair and face structure is different so I reckon just experiment

I love facial hair - wish I didn't have a job where I had to be clean shaven.

I think I'd look good with a beard. I almost always have stubble. It's kind of my thing. But see in that pic there's hair on my neck and it looks gross. What to do with it?

Any grey coming through yet? IMO, beards look heaps better when it's not a 'solid' colour throughout. Salt and pepper.

Myself, I can't... It just doesn't work. Growing the hair isn't a problem (I get stubble after an hour or two, and can get a full beard happening in about 1.5 weeks). But it all grows straight out, and thick as fuck. EXCEPT on the bottom of my chin, where the hair grows down for about 1cm, then totally curls to the left

Also, I get ginger hairs in my beard

The beard thing kinda suits you. Hard to say from the angle, but if I ask for any more pics, you might get the wrong idea

Were you looking to grow it longer than pictured? If so, I'd recommend getting an electric shaver, and tapering the growth behind your jawline (ie. farthest from your jaw is super-short/almost invisible, and then have it get slightly longer the closer you get to your jaw). It will look neater, without looking 'muzza'.

I was thinking along the same lines, so I must have been thinking right! I don't want it much longer than it is already, so I'm not sure if clippers will go close enough. I'll find out later tonight hah.

You don't WANT the clippers to go too close, remember? TAPERING IS THE KEY. If it goes as close as a razor, then you'll get the very distinct line between beard and smooth skin, which makes you look like a muzza.

The tapering (IMO) should exist for 1cm to 2cm, if your beard is thick enough.

shave it below the chin, it looks more clean this way. and chicks will like this more 'cause you don't look like a hippy dude. ow and trim it once a week, so the beard stays full but the hairs don't get too long or you'll get the messy beard again

i dont know about a full growth dood.. but id say you look quite sexy like this

Much like male zombies can't grow long hair.

I struggle with working out a shape. Maybe let it grow a bit & then go have it properly shaped up, whenever Itry & trim it, I go too far & end up shaving the lot off.

I wont start thinking about growing a beard until i hit at least 40 when i start going gray. Gray beard looks great, coloured ones not so much...and i also have the problem with ginger hair in my beard...right on the chin where its most noticeable Same with my father and his moustache...looks great now when its grey, but only a few years back when it was still brown not so much.

Also after about a week of not shaving my face starts to itch so much it annoys the hell out of me.

anyone else break out when they grow their beard?
