VIDEO: Steve Lawler @ Circa Nightclub
Here you go peeps. It was a deep and dark night both visually and musically at Circa Nightclub in Toronto for sure!
Enjoy!
these vids are simply incredible...keep em coming
I watched a clip of this video and there's something I just don't get. Now, I love Lawler as a DJ and the deep dark shit he plays. He's clearly using traktor, but why on earth is he still using the CDJs at all unless he's using the timecode CDs? I guess my point is why the fuck is anyone still using these horrible timecode CDs at all? It just defies all logic. There are tons of controllers out there, like NI's Kontrol X1 which completely eradicates any need for CDJs and turntables and also doubles as a fully assignable traktor control.
Maybe I'm the crazy one here and can't understand why CDJs are necessary when you're already running traktor. What's the point of even running traktor if you're gonna use the CDJs anyway? Wouldn't it be easier to just play CDs at that point?
I'm a devoted traktor user, and believe me, using the CDJs with the timecode CDs to play out the tracks is completely inefficient and unnecessary. It limits your ability to fully utilize all of traktor's capabilities. A friend of mine recently bought a pair of CDJ 2000's against my advice and now he's kicking himself for essentially wasting $3500 on horribly antiquated technology.
If a DJ is gonna play CDs, that's awesome. I still love playing CDs and absolutely applaud any DJ still using CDJs.....But don't ruin the capabilities of an amazing program by trying to combine old and new technology.

While we are here discussing something along these lines, can either of you tell me the differences between Traktor and Serato and what the benefits and disadvantages are for both?
I am very familiar with Traktor, and what it can do but only vaguely familiar with Serato.
