pennsylvania police beating

The officers "delivered 2-3 closed fist strikes to Miles' head/face with still no effect," and then a "knee strike to Miles' head causing him to momentarily stop resisting," so that he could be handcuffed, the document says. Miles' mother said the officers did not identify themselves as police to her son, a viola player and student at the city's Creative and Performing Arts High School. The complaint says the police officers believed Miles was engaged in criminal activity and possibly armed with a "large heavy object." The object turned out to be a bottle of Mountain Dew. Miles was charged with aggravated assault, loitering, resisting arrest and escape. "My son tried to run thinking his life was in jeopardy," Terez Miles said. "He made three steps before he slipped and fell." After that, she said, the police used a stun gun and beat him, pulling out a chunk of his hair.
i guess mountain dew really is extreme.
Depending on his level of proficiency at the viola that bottle of mountain dew could have looked massive juxtapose to his frame.
Dude got clocked.
sorry, that's really sad.
ahh so he's black...had it been grape crush he would have been fine.

Some jokes write themselves.

"My son is 150 pounds and 5-foot-6. There's no need for this degree of violence and brutality for someone of this stature," she said.
they gonna be rich now!
That's fucked up.
The police only wanted to know if anyone had seen Richeeeeeee
This would never have happened if he was drinking this

You think that's bad - this guy literally cooked to death in mid-August heat after being left in a cruiser for 5 hours, and quite likely wasn't drunk at all to begin with. And not mentioned in the article, the cop in question had already been fired from a neighboring town for beating the shit out of someone prior to this incident.
FYI, he was fired following a 3 month investigation, though I haven't heard what civil lawsuits both the department & the officer are facing.

AG now probing Punxsutawney police custody death AP POSTED: August 27, 2009 PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) - The state attorney general is now investigating the death of a man in a Punxsutawney police cruiser. A spokesman for the attorney general says Jefferson County District Attorney Jeffrey Burkett referred the case to state prosecutors because Burkett knows many Punxsutawney police officers very well. Punxsutawney police Chief Tom Fedigan hasnt released the name of the officer who is suspended with pay in connection with the death of 48-year-old Stephen Obbish on Aug. 15. Obbish had been picked up on suspicion of public drunkenness about 9:50 a.m. and was found dead in the same police cruiser about five hours later. Among other things, investigators are trying to determine if Obbish was drunk or suffering from a diabetic condition instead. http://www.timesobserver.com/page/c...isap=1&nav=5038
why am I not surprised that he is a niglet?
I'd be scared as hell, too. It'd be instinct to run or instantly defend yourself. You'd shit your pants. You'd be running up that road. You'd be running up that hill. They screaming behind you "come baby! Come DARLING. LET ME STEAL THIS MOMENT FROM YOU NOW"
BUMP!
Today in Seattle... sista gets her grill caved in.
he pulled the girls over for jaywalking, by the way. haha

I don't think the cop was in the wrong in this case, but the news sources are treating it like he was abusive.
if you lay a hand on a cop, you're asking for AT LEAST a punch in the face, regardless of your race or gender... the guy should be commended for not using a taser like many do without thinking twice.

This is fucked up. If 3 plain clothed men came charging at me, I don't care if they fucking say they are Santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny coming to deliver goodies... I am fucking running.
Anyone's natural reaction to this would be to run like hell. IF they even said they were police, it likely didn't even register as he was probably shitting himself that 3 big men were coming at him.
Those police officers need to be fired and charged IMO. They should be trained professionals and know better than to attack someone like that when they are not clearly identifiable. Then to use excessive force on top of it? The guy was little... 3 men couldn't contain him? Maybe they could have tried calming him down by showing their badges and repeating they were the police instead of beating the shit out of him.
This pisses me off. For the most part, I think cops are far too often mistreated and bagged on when they don't deserve it. With that being said, there are a lot of assholes who are police officers that let the adrenaline, excitement and power get way over their heads and simply should not be allowed to be in their positions.
POLITICS!
learn to use it for something other than harassing my ass

Originally posted by Sushipunk I agree, pretty much. The cop looked kinda poorly trained though. Cops over here (and surely over there?) are taught proper grappling techniques and quite a lot of other hand-to-hand combat stuff, but he just didn't seem to be able to get the chick down to the ground to be cuffed? I've watched a single female cop here take down a dude WAY bigger than her in a matter of seconds. I've also seen some pretty impressive combat stuff from male cops as well. That guy was piss-weak, IMO.
