Good trance Synth for £100-£200

Hi all


Can anyone suggest a good software synthesizer for around £100-£200.
I use Logic for my productions and is looking for something that I can make bases with. Cant seem to get a nice gritty baseline with the Logic stuff.

Was thinking of the NI Massive (if it supports Logic?)

Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Rob Papen Predator is excellent for bass sounds (so is Massive but the CPU usage is pretty high)

Also look at Sylenth1, it's very gritty indeed.

Your ES2 can create some excellent basslines as well as all the other stuff you want.

Check out 7skies soundbank for it.

I'm very new to production and find the ES2 difficult to master. I believe that it is a very powerful tool but I just cant seem to get the sound that I'm after. Which isolators will you use to create a deep bass sound?

Wow, thats an amazing soundset. Wasn't suspecting ES2 to sound that good. Well I guess I've got something new to learn

I can thoroughly recommend Predator, I love using it for my sub-melodies and the occasional lead. It's very versatile and really easy to work with.

Don't take the easy way out, learn it. You should always learn to utilise what you have as much as possible, before you venture out for other software/hardware, in my opinion.

I think RPs apparent favouring of hardcore sounds don't do it any favours tbh. The many hundreds of presets mostly don't show off what it can really do.

It's also got arguably the best FX section of any VST synth that can also be used as a standalone FX unit.

Very true. So my next question is can you make a warm gritty baseline with the ES2 and if so can you please give me some pointers?

I'm not an expert on Logic synths as it's not my DAW of choice, however, there are plenty of Logic users here who I'm sure would be able to provide more useful information on ES2 than me.

The Waveshaper is really nice on basslines, just turning the "bottom" knob to about 5% gives it a nice tone

Take a look at the Rob Papen SubBoomBass demo. It's built on Predator's engine, but is designed especially for synth basses. The presets are sorta all over the place in terms of styles and usability, but like all RP synths, it's a breeze to tweak/program and it will do pretty much anything you'd want a synth bass to do, particularly gritty basses.

Good clip man thanks, it really comes down to my inexperience in synthesis.

Having said that I think I will still get another software synth any way, the predator synth looks like a mad thing.

Here is something my mate send me last night. Sander Van Doorn is also using the Predator for some of his productions.
