and by respect you mean ignoring the complete logic...and making funny statements to seem rather intelligent?
i have read many posters on this forum.
A thing I learned.
Cliche people are a shame and if you think you make sense your a downer.

-Post witty insults to everyone who makes stupid comments
-Make long winded posts that contain a lot of big words (best if they are semantically confusing,) such that no one can truly tell if you have any idea of what you are talking about and do it with authority... OR
-Post genuinely intelligent posts but be sure to agree with the majority or the other popular posters - at least until you gain the respect of the c0r... then you can say whatever you want
-Post funny comments/zings/pictures
-Sleep with someone that is already popular in the c0r
-Party with people who are already popular in the c0r and be sure to impress them in real life
-Never associate yourself with people who are 'uncool' or 'unpopular' and never defend the person that the c0r decides to make their bitch for the week/month
-Support a popular c0r member in a flame war or debate
I am pretty sure that covers it. There is a fine balance in achieving many of those points... but if you observe the c0r populars, I am sure you can mimic them relatively well if you try.

Don't try. people trying too hard is the number one cause of jay laughing at them and them never recovering their reputation. Some people just lack either the stayability that you need or simply aren't funny enough.
