Wich do you dislike more? When people call eletronic music "techno" or "dance music"?

This is very funny here in Brazil. "Dance Music" is any electronic music with vocals and "techno" is anything electronic wihout vocals (even jungle). Then, trance can be "dance music" AND "techno" (I often have problems when people ask me what Trance is). I think we should blame it on the radios, because that's their definition It's not people's fault if they don't know the correct names - if that's what they've been told, what else would they say? And it can be worse: in Northern Brazil, everything is called "House music", from trance to jungle! Anyway, I've voted for Dance Music...it really sucks when you ask someone what (s)he likes to listen and (s)he says it. If (s)he says techno, I suppose it means techno (the real thing) and probably tek-house, and not jungle or ambient. But if the answer is "dance music"... well, even Michael Jackson expects people to dance listening his music, what will I think?!

What pisses me off more, is certain people on this board who go into the nth degree of arguing the minute details over whether such-and-such a song is 'techno' or 'tech-trance' or just straight 'trance' or whatever ... haven't you guys got freakin lives? If it sounds good then who cares a continental croissant about what little sub genre it is.

lol, youre right there... but i know some producers who get pissed off too when their productions are labeled into a genre they think is not suitable for them. i remember 3-4 years back when i was more into the goa scene these talks started that goa is dead and all the producers from that scene insisted on being called psychedelic trance producers. also there is armand van helden who gets pissed off when the critics put his work into a genre - he says his tracks are much too diverse to be categorized into a single genre. but i have to admit i get pissed off too when a track is mislabeled - the reason is ppl may get the wrong impression about the sound of a track if its mislabeled

I hate dance music because it has many tracks and it get's "cheesy" with all these mainstream shit. But strictly dance. I don't think that you put trance music into the "dance" subject. If it's that, then i hate techno
