The only examples I know of are The firebird band, The postal service, and fuji & Miyagi. I really like this stuff and am having trouble finding more like it.

RATATAT! These 2 guys from NYC, they both play guitar/bass with all kinds of effects, one of em makes the beats on a drum machine and plays synth. They make really awesome instrumental funky hip-hopish beats. Their live shows are incredible.

Also check out Death from Above 1979, their music is dance punk.. Jesse Keeler from MSTRKRFT's old band.. By far the loudest band I've ever seen.

The Presets are also awesome.
