Dankann: The best up and coming Progressive House Producer

Dankann, the DJ/producer from Italy started producing in 2008 and had a huge year in 2009 releasing about 5 solid EPs, along with many remixes. To me, Dankann is the definition of progressive house, so many different sounds in all of his tracks, yet he makes it all fit together flawlessly. Most of his songs have trance aspects, just slowed down to 127-130bpm. Clean production and solid song structure, and Beatport has mentioned him as a producer to follow closely in 2010. He's had 4-5 top 10 originals and remixes on the beatport prog house charts, and his single 'Helia' has been played out by Tiesto, Axwell, etc.. While I wouldn't call his music groundbreaking, he seems to put together all the great aspects of prog house together in each and every track. He has about 15-20 originals all released within the past 2 years, and they are all ROCK SOLID tracks.

It's a shame that progressive house is out and tech house is in, have you guys heard his stuff? check it out and tell me what you think..I think a lot of you will like it, and I don't think there's a more consistent progressive house producer right now. I even had problems choosing which songs to upload/post, wanted to stick to only 5 when I could have easily posted 10 up here.

Dankann - Tribulation (Original Mix)

Dankann - Ethnology (Original Mix)

Dankann - Relief (Original Mix)

Dankann - Rain (Original Mix)

Dankann - Return from Paradise (Original Mix)

Nothing grinds my gears like an OMG BEST PRODUCER/DJ EVAR thread

Posted by corjay9 on Feb-05-2010 20:27:

So.. you don't like discovering and sharing new music with other people? I love these kinds of threads, especially when they are properly structured.

I also never said he's the best producer ever, I said he's one of the best up and coming progressive house producers. If you like progressive house, check it out.. otherwise stay clear of these kinds of threads.

I dont mind discovering and sharing new music. But typing "best" or whatever name in a thread is kind of a flamebait.

Would you guys honestly like me to change the title? It's my opinion, I'd like to hear yours based on Dankann's music.

They are idiots.

I listened to a little cause I don't have much time, but it sounded really nice. Great production quality.

If it were me making this thread, I would say 'great' as opposed to best.

not trying to be a **** (altough i might be one) i hate to see a new music thread going into a flamewar.

ANYWAY im still thankfull for the tip about the best up and coming progressive house producer since the stuff was pritty great.

So yeah, thanks.

Took a listen, not entirely sure why I did either.

This guy just sounds like yet another producer who can deadmau5 pretty well. Nothing more.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Feb-07-2010 17:17:

It isn't horrible, but it isn't anything special or original either.

How long have you been listening to dance music? Not a flame attempt bit a serious question.

3 years? I listen to all forms of electronic music, most of it isn't EDM. I like progressive music in general.

Posted by miamitranceman on Feb-07-2010 18:38:

Not bad. Some of it is a little Deadmau5-ish but not bad.

Posted by chrome on Feb-07-2010 22:43:

totally deadmau5 influenced lol
return to paradise sounds like faxing berlin
and relief sounds like something adam k & soha would produce...

Posted by RebeL9 on Feb-08-2010 00:33:

He sounds just as generic as any one producing the current type of progressive house. Very influenced by another boring producer wearing a big mouse mask. The productions are not in any way unique and calling it the best progressive house producer is a very bold statement.

Here is some real modern progressive house for you:

Posted by WhooCares on Feb-08-2010 01:33:

i dig a lot of Dankann stuff
theres better clips tho
like this one

and

edit.
i prefer this style of prog. house tho..

Posted by Woony on Feb-08-2010 14:33:

I don't hear how these tracks are greatly Mau5 influenced. They sound like any random Anjunadeep producers could have made them tho.

Posted by kitphillips on Feb-08-2010 16:04:

Sounds like he needs to find out how to set his sequencer grid to 16ths, he's stuck on eigths.

Its all a bit cheese and derivative from what I heard, rain might be ok though in the right context.

Posted by stev on Feb-08-2010 16:40:

pretty good tracks. thanks man. who cares how you worded your OP, anyway dont stress it people are just giving their opinions. it doesnt matter because some of the people saying its bland etc have some pretty crappy song choices of their own too (shudder). nobody's perfect. thanks and keep doing what your doing, its nice to see more music/exposure threads around here.

Posted by Lomeli on Feb-08-2010 17:19:

Thumbs down

nothing new

Posted by MSZ on Feb-09-2010 03:42:

although very nice in his own style tracks. personally i think theres more out there in terms of up and coming.

that also depends on what you mean exactly by up and coming, i could have another definition from you.

I never once said he's doing something new, I said I believe his tracks incorporate all the good aspects of progressive house. His songs are much more elaborate and less predictable then Deadmau5's, like so many of you seem to think. Of course it's just much easier to listen to 30 seconds of a song on crappy computer speakers and make assumptions. I really wonder what the general consensus on his music would of been had not made such a bold statement in the title.

Anyone wanna give me some suggestions on good new progressive house? I think the genre's pretty stale right now.

Posted by LoveHate on Feb-09-2010 05:48:

dinka does whatever this guy is trying to do better.

Moshic's latest album beats the hell out of the whole genre.
