Anyone know how good the input A/D converters are on viruses?
I wanted to use the virus as an fx unit instead of buying one (virus effects are great
) but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the quality of the converters for the input? Im guessing theyre good since its access, but i figured id ask, and maybe someone has something to say about that....
They're decent and don't sound noticeably terrible. I dunno if they're "OMG AMAZING!!!11111!", but they definitely aren't ruining anything. I've only had to use them like... twice... and didn't do a thorough A/B test with anything so I don't have any better comments.
im sure its fine. people are probably going to rib you more for liking the virus' FX as opposed to the converters. i personally like the FX on the unit but some do not
I've got a TI and always had bad experience with physical ins / outs. Mine has a lot of noise and DC offset. My mate was using his as an audio interface for a while, lets say he was the happiest man in the world when he bought a Motu Ultralite ...
But then again, it depends whats "bad" for you, it may be just fine for your needs.
Thanks, Ill test it out anyways at one point, its just my virus is not at home right now...
what kind of unit you got

I've heard some virus sounds with overtones/timbres that make me want to hump a TI. What does virus use to do this? Is it the same crap we have access to, like distortion/flangers/phasers etc? Why does virus do this so well? I have such a hard friggn time getting new and unique timbres. Flangers always sound basically the same, sweepy and boring. Distortion always make a sound - sound like its dying. What do you guys use? This is one reason I've always had respect for the virus is because it seems it can take an avg sounding saw lead, rape it with fx, and make it sound better. When I rape my sounds with fx, they all seem sloppy and tired, I cant even get close to some of the timbres a virus can do. So is this synth doing anything real special that makes this task easier or am I most likely just using fx the wrong way? |
^^ Haha, this is what I meant Robby when I said you change your tune with every post.. You basically own yourself week in week out, and no i'm not digging through threads for facts, I'm just saying your opinion about things changes faster than a hooker changes condoms.

I'm not just talking about your fucking ACCESS VIRUS.. jesus christ never mind. I plan on leaving you alone anyway. Cheers
Robbie, I really don't wanna jump on the bandwagon here but this is ridiculous.
In the past you made several posts about how great the Virus was, how fantastic its sound and how no SOFTWARE (eg Reason) comes close to the virus sound.
The post someone quoted from you is an example of this. Sure, you dont mention reason in that quote but you do stress how fantastic you think the virus FX are.
And now you say you prefer Reasons FX. So what are you saying? That the Virus FX are top notch, brilliant, of the highest quality. But Reasons are even better?
If I could be bothered, I would dig through your old posts and quote a long list of comments you have made to make this clear but I can't be bothered, so now you can deny you ever said anything at all.
lol what I have done this wasnt my intention...
i just remembered that post so I digged it up lol
Its hard to avoid laughing at him. He provides 90% of the amusement on this forum IMO, most people either get in line after a few months or leave, but robby keeps making stupid comments and stupid threads, every week, several times a week. The best bit is, if you call him on it, and say "dude, maybe you should think before you blurt" he bites back so hard, making himself look even funnier. Hilarious.
