Drum Tools 01 - Definitive Electronic Drum Sample Library

Hi All,

I thought this might be of interest to some of the producers here:

We have just released a Drum Hit sample library named Drum Tools 01

Drum Tools 01 offers 1950 electronic drum samples which have been crafted from the ground upwards using an extensive selection of high-end studio outboard gear. Unlike other libraries of this type you will find NO sounds ripped from vinyl or similar mediums. All sounds are 100% original and built by myself.

You can download 150 completely free samples from this collection here:

https://www.yousendit.com/transfer....EMGNEbUxIRGc9PQ

These free sounds are taken directly from the full collection and are designed to give you a good idea of the quality to expect from the full library which can be viewed here:

http://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/drum_to..._techno_/pid58

I bought Drum Machines 01 a while back but i found that a lot of the kicks sounded very heavily limited or compressed and a result i found them unusable, same with hats, just too heavy and sharp to use

just my opinion, im sure others enjoy them!

Hi!

This seems a bit weird. There was absolutely no compression or limiting used on the Drum Machines 01 library - I would never even dream of limiting drum samples which were to be released on a drum sample library!

The only samples that were very slightly compressed in that library were the Vermona kick drum samples. Even then it was just one or two decibels with an Empircial Labs distressor to bring out the attack.

The sound you are hearing is the sound of the raw Drum Machines themselves going through an API pre-amp. Analog drum machines sound huge!

This library is completely different also as it features layered sounds / drums and original synth / drums / percussion etc. Not jsut sampled directly from drum machines.

Edit: free samples link in opening post wasn't working. I have now corrected it!

Thanks Dan!

I got the Drum Tools 01 last night, but only had a short while to mess around with them. The couple dozen samples that I did load up sounded great! I'm going to go a little crazy with them over the weekend and I'll post up some loops.

I've used the DM01 samples quite a bit and I would not characterize them as compressed or limited. Quite the opposite, actually. That's one of the reasons I like the WA samples so much - unlike most of the sample packs out there nowadays (esp. Vengeance and Penton), they're clean and ready to go.

+1 Totaly agree here Cryo. The samples sounds fantastic. Not over compressed like most vengeance sample CD's. Some of the samples on Vengeance just sound shite IMHO

Right, think i'll pop over to WA and get the new drum tools sample pack

Ok maybe it just the sounds of the kicks, made me think they were over-compressed, most of them sound distorted to me but maybe that was the intention??
anyways, cool beans i will check out the free sounds in this new pack

As stated, the sounds on Drum Machines 01 were recorded directly from the drum machines through a high-end signal chain. Any distortion you hear is part of the character of the drum machines. I didn't additionaly process anything other than a few of the Vermona kick drum samples

I admit it is actually an aquired taste to like the sound of certain Drum Machines - They have a very distinctive sound - especially the Vermona DRM. If you dont like the tone of the raw drum machine samples I would suggest layering the bass / lower mids of the drum machine sounds with the higher fequency content of the sounds of your choice.

Please do check out the free samples from Drum Tools 01

Yeah i think i just dont like the character of them thats all.

I checked out the freebies from this new pack - impressive!
Particularly liked the "deep" and "solid" kicks, will there be many more of those deep and solid samples in this pack?
Also some of the sound fx sweeps and that were very nice i have to say!

Good to hear that you like the Drum Tools 01 sounds

What I need to do is create a pdf which lists the exact file count of all subfolders!

Ok I have the library open now - here is a run down of the kick drums included:

Deep - 83 kicks

Solid - 70 kicks

Punchy - 78 kicks

Processed Machines - 177 kicks

Processed 808 - 28 kicks

FX kicks - 36 kicks

I hope that helps.

My favourite part of the library is the percussion folder

Some of the deep kicks you mention have been processed through the Culture Vulture to aquire a subtle saturation which I think sounds exceptional on those subby sounds! All of the sounds in Drum Tools 01 have a kind of 3d quality to them which I personally love.

You wont find any ripped sounds or over compression in this library. These discrepencies found in certain / most electronic drum libraries are what drove me to produce this library in the first place

I like this library a lot! Here are a few loops I threw together in Maschine this morning:

Wave Alchemy DrumTools01 Grooves

These use only samples from the DrumTools01 library, plus a few effects (reverbs/delays) from Maschine.

maybe an attractive group discount would get more to jump in.

By the way do you have an American distributor/retailer?

Seeing as i slated (somewhat unfairly) the first drum pack i bought from Wave Alchemy i have to say this particular library is top notch.
PLenty of beefy kicks, snares, claps, cool hats, weird synth blips and fx etc etc - they sound really good and would highly recommend them

I'm glad you like them, thanks for the kind words

No worries about your words against Drum machines 01. I fully agree that the sound of certain Drum Machines is not to everyone's taste! Our aim was to capture the vibe and character of the drum machines used and I think we achieved that. Infact even Juergen (owner of Jomox) gave us a lot of praise and even wanted to sell the samples in his shop as he thought we captured the Jomox tone that well.

So all of these are one shots? Nice, just what I wanted!

150 demo shots are pretty good.

Yes, there are no loops in this library - all sounds are one-shots. Infact our last three libraries have been one-shot libraries.

You can view a PDF with exactly how many files of each type there are here:

Thanks for the samples Dan. I have to say your samples are top notch, really great stuff. My first choice when I do get some extra money to splurge on samples.
When working in mostly digital domain, nothing beats analogue derived samples.
