Review: Lee Burridge @ Footwork, Feb 13th, 2010

Wow!! Expected no less from Lee Burridge, but nonetheless was not expecting a lot of dark prog. Ask and you shall receive!! Probably the 2nd best I've seen him.. more to follow..

Also.. the levels of weird at Footwork reached new levels! In one sentence I'd say...

Cupid made an appearance, brought his great grandfather well over his 60s, shot an arrow at the old school raver lady, whilst some other creature clapped with his cheek. All that was missing was the OHHHHHH Fucking Yeah lady!! <3

yeah, you could definitely say footy 'got weird' lastnight lol
had a bit of a headache, so stayed in the booth at the beginning, and toward the back for the remainder. as mentioned in the rc - lee was on fire. I love that I this day of age with everyone going laptop on us, he still uses a lot of vinyl. It brings a sort of uniqueness too all of his sets. wayyyy better than his last set. left just before 4.

great night out - but ya, WEIRD peeps. lmao (mon was scared)

what was the encore blast-from-the-past closer this time?

Also forgot the most important prop(s) of the night... beach balls!!! LOL

Some videos I took:

Of all the times I've seen Lee, last night was number one.

Posted by kevinL on Feb-15-2010 15:00:

leeee

def a fun night, good company.

who was on before Lee? He was just a tab bit to slow and after 1:10 rolled around and Lee wasn't on we got a little worried.

Then lee pops out from the back room with a huge smile and a big burst of cheers welcomes lee back to tdot.

Not one of my fav sets of his but def smooth...

i saw an article on beatportal that claimed this track could be the track of wmc. oddly though, i bought it on beatport in 2008

- easily best set i've heard from lee.
- 1 of top 3 sets ever.
- if you look up "rhythm" in the dictionary you'll see a picture of Lee and an audio track of this set. nobody comes close to what this guy does. oh and mixing was ridiculously spot on. some very nice burridge-style transitions.

and finally;
- please please please tell me this set was recorded and will be released.

You know why Lee is awesome? Because he tried so hard to play Second Hand Satellites - Orbit 1.3 for us. Would have been so dope if the record could have made it past those skips.

Lee's list of reasons for awesomeness is immense, but this is most definitely on it

Oh and on the topic of weirdness of FW I fully agree. Something was weird about the crowd that night, but in a way it only made the vibe of the party that much better. Overall it was a pretty awesome crowd. Everyone seemed to know why they were there, and what we were all in for that night.

I've never seen FW that busy at 5.30AM either. People simply refused to leave. Thanks to Lee for that special 30 minute encore. Usually it's 1-2 tracks and that's it.

What? It skipped bad right at the beginning of the tune. He stopped and started it again but no dice. Barely a minute of that tune was played.

Also....Break 4 Love! I dunno if that was just the accapella over a break beat or what, but that was awesome.

Hmm I was wondering why he only played it for like a minute. I think I was too blown away to pay attention to the skipping, lol

damn!

it musta been a good weekend because i've followed lee on twitter for quite awhile and this is only like the 2nd tweet i've actually received and it just said "WHERE THE FUCK HAVE I BEEN?" last night at 10:47pm MST

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-16-2010 21:27:

That after party was still bumping when we left at nearly 4pm, lol. I haven't stayed out so long since DEMF.

Posted by jad on Feb-16-2010 21:44:

Pretty solid set.. I was expecting a little bit more funk though. Nonetheless, Lee Burridge is the man.

Ugh...this can get very very annoying fast. Hopefully it didn't put too much of a damper on the night. Looking forward to when he comes back, I've never had a bad time seeing him.

I want someone to bring back Desyn Masiello damn it.
