F*** You, Austin!

Yeah, you and your job market freaking suck ass!

We're staying in Dallas for at least another 18 months. Maybe Dallas needs our PLUR for a little bit longer.

Yeah, thats because its so liberal and they still are recovering from all the incompetent mid level management they fired.

Can you do board bring up, embedded linux development, or hardware design? Thats the field I am in and I have not had a problem finding or keeping a well paying job in the past three years (since I started working)

no offense, but besides Northern cold climate cities, Houston is one of the last places I'd want to be. I just never really liked it much.

It sucks, I agree. But the economy here is pretty good compared to other places. The music scene is awful though

It is when you've lost your weight-loss pill bottle and are now on the road to being a size 55 in jeans.

Just look at Cory.

OHHHH Carlos, That's why your always trying to pick up my sloppy seconds. But for someone like you, you would only be able to feel 1 side at a time.

For a sec I thought you wrote, "bring boards up, land development or use hardware". I was gonna say yeah I can do all that, I'm Mexican. LOL! Nah, my field is in the civil/structural design. AutoCAD and junk.

Posted by Benjamin DuBose on Feb-17-2010 06:38:

Steph maybe if we all pitch in we can get a place LOL. Yes Job Markets suck most places. nothing we can do about it right now though except keep plucking away at it.

Recessions suck.

Actually, the job market here is pretty good.. what kinda job are u looking for?

Posted by sharper on Feb-18-2010 03:49:

from my research, Austin has a better economy and better unemployment rate than Dallas. So I thought if I can find another job in my career easily in Dallas, then Austin wouldn't be that hard. I'm a graphic designer, print advertising, was looking for production artist or art director job. In 2.5 months, I applied at over 50 positions and got 2 bites. One turned out to be a scam. The other I aced the phone interview and got an in-person interview. The next day, before I head to Austin for the interview, the employer contacted me to actually cancel our scheduled interview because he found someone else.

I was so sure we were moving. I was already looking at places online to live. The rejection letters and lack of feedback made me so upset. I cried a ton. I just had already made the decision in my mind that we were moving, so I was very disappointed.

BUT, time is up and our lease is up on our place. We had already told them we weren't resigning a lease. So we had to go find a new place to put a deposit on. I was upset, but I'm not anymore. Our new place is so freaking amazing that we decided on 18 month lease, and I'm excited to move. Next month - yay!

Civil/structural design. Anything that has to do with CAD basically.

The economy probably effects your field more than mine since when the money gets tight people design things to build less.

This recession BS needs to stop!
