Hello! Here's my second 'mixed genre' mux, made for my friend for when she heads on to Nebraska for a while. As you can see, there's a whole lot going on. My favorite segment has definitely got to be the latter portion of this mix, beginning with Nathan Fake's Fentiger. It's really the perfect "mood" I was trying to create, especially when Starkid's Crayons comes in.

I believe every track was (had to be) edited on the computer, then mixed on my friend's cDDJs/Dual CD Players along with cheat notes on BPM. After 3 attempts I managed to "pull it off".

Followers of EM mixes will notice a familiar transition.

01. Mark Isham - Badal (I) (00:00)

03. Babel - Wolf Suite I (03:02)

On track 5 now, the mixing has so far been incredibly beautiful!!! Masterpiece, will come back after listening to the entire thing (=

This is really, really awesome. This is the kind of set I wish I could pull off, very eclectic, very fun. The transition into Heart Of Glass is my idea of a perfect transition - I didn't realise the track had changed until the vocals started and then suddenly I had a massive grin on my face. I'm impressed you did this live, even with the re-edits and the BPM notes. The only problem I heard was the transition out of Thriller, which didn't sound in key.

But still, very cool mix. Do you have a link to your first mixed genre set?

(Also: I liked the multiple references to 80s horror movies)

Also, thank you everybody for your comments! I'm not really into the whole DJ hobby anymore; but from time to time I'll go to my friend's house with my CDs and give it a go. Nevertheless, it's still great to get the feedback, especially for these types of sets, which are my favorite! Heh, they even play my first mixed genre and one of my old EDM sets on the local station here on the weekends.

listening to this one today as im in a weird mood after a weekend of bakedness lol

this is one weird set. kind of kitcshy/retroey sort of thang, the flow is nice and the mixing is pretty decent considering what kind of music you're slamming together but im just unsure what is going on in terms of how it would fit into my life haha

however it is very 80s early 90s, which i do like cheesy synthy poppy goodness, i noticed the 'edits' ya put in there, like looping and such, i was expecting them to be alot more like the original but i was pleasantly suprised in how it all fits together!

keep up the good work man, i look forward to the next one!
