wow. and we're getting a 4% home tax increase coming up again???

Posted by Stilez on Feb-17-2010 04:28:

wow!
wtf?

how does an 'Administrator' make this much?
- City of Toronto AEROLA MARGARET A Administrator $131,144.47 (to top it off, she's named after the circular part of a woman's tit. How appropriate)

p.s. i know it's not spelled the same, but close enough

Administrator in municipal politics is a key role in the operations side of the corporation. Some corporations call them "Chief Administrators" or something similar.

To be honest I don't see anything that seems shockingly wrong in those salaries.

the supervisor of public golf courses makes about $103K a year and you don't see anything wrong with that????

golf courses are pretty big operations with many employees and lots of money flowing in and out. Given the size and scope of the operations I would suggest that this is probably below market value.

those figures are ridiculous

I think its absolutely retarded to make a blanket statement like that and you must have been dropped on your head as a kid. Some of them may seem high but honestly I don't see any figures that I would really question.

i hope that is better

I dont think this list is quite a complete one.

Of all Mississauga Transit there are only three employees on that list.

The Director, Geoff Marinoff
The Transit Chief Manager, Mickey Frost
And one Operator, Guy Collins

I know for a fact that more of our guys were well over the 100k mark.
I seriously think this list is incomplete.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

This sounds very familiar. Ah yes, there was a thread about this very topic not more than 6-8 onths ago. Serious flaming going on in that thread too if I remember correctly.

You can't look at just the top earners....there are many factors that go into those people making over 100,000.

If you want to complain about the TTC I suggest going to this website

Although interesting unless you also have the hours they worked the raw earnings can't be used as an indicator that they are overpaid.

Well, you can't determine if they are overpaid unless you have more data then just their final earnings. If they are making substantially more per hour then the average employee doing that job then yes they are overpaid.

If people want to get upset about how much money people make how about getting upset at Alex Rodriguez making $22,633.74 per inning.

Sweet, I just looked up a guy I went out with a few weeks ago.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Feb-17-2010 17:29:

this makes me laugh. most of those people are making more than my boss at the university who is a highly respected tenured professor and reseacher.

guess i am not going into academia ever in my life. lol. booth collector here i come. or maybe i should reconsider my total hate of the public sector and work for the government.

"work" for the government lol

Posted by Skipper on Feb-17-2010 17:41:

Honestly, the government is the cushiest job anyone can have. You get paid well (although your salary tends to increase at a glacial pace), the benefits are spectacular (holidays, mat leave and the rest of it), and the hours are great.

What would drive me bonkers about working there coming from private sector is that everything gets done at half the speed that for profit organizations do things at. I have heard this from every person I know that has made the jump from private. It would also infuriate me to actually witness day in, day out, how our tax dollars are wasted.

yup. this would be the reason why i am really hesitant to even try and get a job for the government. i would hate going in and out seeing dopes around me going so slow.

Posted by Orko on Feb-17-2010 18:05:

If we want competent people in important jobs, we have to pay them well enough. They won't do it, because 'it is for the good of the country'.

But we also have to rein in out of control spending being blocked by unions.
