Smiley DJ 52_c

I were just wondering... What is this "bass" called? It is little like didgeridoo but more "techno". In FRuity Loops it goes with name 52_C. Or is that 52_C the real name for that? And how is that made?

???????

How about explaining this to us non-fruity people?

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Jul-12-2002 21:40:

Dunno

Well, I just don't know how to explain it more It is like some didgeridoo bass, but more "techno"...

U can hear something like that in Scooter's Posse I need U on the floor (somwhere in 2.40-3.00, and now I mean the radio edit). Or it is also in Lagoona's Promised Land (from 0.28 to 2.19, and 2.50-3.10 NightFly Club Mix). And it is used in many others... I don't know if this was any help at all. Well, I can send the sample if someone wants to...

i'm sorry dude but i can't find that sample in my fruity-folder. i have v3.4 and the v3.5 demo installed.

but i remember a track of 'the prodigy' called 'everybody is in the place'. i got some synth from that track and one of them could be the one you need. so check this one out.

http://rsr.host.sk/patches/prodigy_...sintheplace.mp3

can you upload that '52_c' sample so i can take a listen to it?

Cyrus2k2, sorry, but that link just don't work And I don't know how to upload or where to upload the sample... But I could send it to U by @mail, if that's ok?

Posted by cyrus2k2 on Jul-13-2002 10:51:

well, that link works. try adding the url intro some downloadmanager like getright. this will do it.

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Jul-14-2002 06:41:

I don't have the getright (or any other). But I know that track and there is that bass that sounds little same as the 52_C In this Prodigy's track it is more "bass"...

Oh, so that's the way to do ti Well thanks for the advice -=Re- GrOoVeD=-

That is not really the sample/sound I mean... That Prodigy sample sounds more like Kulbbheads bass-sound. But I am talking about more like didgeridoo sound, I know it is used in Dj Sakin & Friends's track "Protect your mind".

didgeridoo sound
*lol*

I got your sample, and this just a 303 distorted. Hmm, you probably don't know what a 303 is.

In Rebirth you can create this sound the following way:

Setting Cutoff to zero and Resonance to maximum, Env and Decay to zero
playing one note and using the distortion unit...

The principle in general is taking a sound with a low cutoff value and a high Resonance value and sending it to an overdrive or distortion plugin.
Maybe you have to figure it out a little.

i'm not sure if he talks about that 303 sound.
if you listen to the intro of that track, the part that is sampled from the soundtrack of 'braveheart', you hear something like a very low played flute. for me it sounds very didgeridoo-like.

Joi Lamusic: can you give us a time-code where we can find that sample in the track? this would help.

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Jul-15-2002 20:28:

Cyrus2k2, I was talking about Sakin's Protect Your Mind (instrumental version 3:44). The sound appeares first time in 0:59. And in time-code 1:27 - 1:40 there is nothing else than kick, bass and this sound. Or I can always send U the sample as I did to Trancevision

Trancevision, so I should get Rebirth?

I am sure that he meant the 303 because I got his sample. If you don't have it already, I will send it to you on ICQ if you're online...

Rebirth is one of the progz to get this special sound the best way, you can also create it with another synth:

The principle in general is taking a sound with a low cutoff value and a high Resonance value and sending it to an overdrive or distortion plugin.

Perhaps some of the fruity users (or others ) know better ways to get the 303 sound

Yes, but there are also 303 samples available for Reason NN19. But I don't remember where. I also got somewhere ( have to find again )a 303 patch for subtractor, which sounds not as good as a rebirth but acceptable...
