Do you want the event sub-forum to be changed? VOTE HERE!

Please place your votes in regards to Swampers suggestion for changing the event sub-forums:

Also on the top right side you can toggle whether you see event threads in the main forum. If I recall, I asked if you guys wanted it like that and most of you said no. If you want more event related discussion then that is one way to do it.

In terms of DJ mixes, it makes no sense to create a whole other sub-forum just for that purpose. A sticky with a link to your mix and/or relevant thread in the DJ promo section (like TOTA) will do.

Articles/Interviews for the most part should continue to be posted in Music Discussion. There are reasons for this, some which are logistical and some which are necessary to deter against promoter/promotion-related spam/thread bumping.

Here is an example of what it would look like:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...p?s=&forumid=60

Events would be in the main forum as well as the event sub-forum however you would have the option of hiding them within the main forum.

Notice the "Hide event threads within this forum" link on the top right hand side.

I'd change it. No one goes in there anyway right now, so I don't see any harm in changing it.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Feb-19-2010 16:35:

Florida has it that way too. But it gets annoying especially during WMC so at the moment its on "hide all events"

I don't see what the big deal is. I like the events forums.

If i wanna know whats going on this weekend that TA's will go to - I check it.

and because Tom is so awesome - I can DOUBLE CHECK his listing for parties.

No wonder Brian gave up modding nyta

I'm voting for westcoast style.. cuz it gives the whiners an option.

edit - I also just want to say that WMC had a bunch of whiners for the same exact reasons. Everyone who bitched just ended up pre bitching beacuse now it is a great thing. It's just something ppl needed to get used to and it also needed some push. Once ppl made threads for each party - it seemed to really take off.. Now the WMC section has ZERO parties in the WMC forum which has never - ever - ever been like this. If you all can rememebr.. the Events were all mixed in with the FAQ or general WMC related threads. A la clusterfuk.

Everyone was crying cuz we wanted it in 1 thread as always - and we still do have the master WMC list by Benji - just like Tom does.. but the Events thread really took off. So just give it time. Ppl have made some really fancy roll calls in the events forums and all the discussion has stayed within that 1 single event thread. I love WMC section this year.

At some point are we going to be able to vote on the matter of local press / articles and DJ mixes as well or are those a no go?

^ last few lines in Swampers second quote address that issue.

In regards to the mixes... I am making a thread for local DJ's only. All local mixes will go there, others will remain in the regular download thread.

Oh whoops - sorry

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Feb-19-2010 16:57:

FLTA's are OCD and we hated having sooo many stickies... we have a local dj mix thread and a chill out thread where we just post random shit... so instead our Mod made a welcome to FLTA thread with useful links.

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...5&forumid=43&s=

for example^

Like Mel, I check event listings and I check enigmat's list. I do not see much of a difference in the link provided. People need to stop being butt hurt over everything and suck it up. Start a new routine and hit the event listings when you are on. I like that you will have a thread for local DJs, that is probably the best that comes out of this issue.

Posted by DJ_Rafnel on Feb-19-2010 17:06:

I agree with the above. The DJ mixes and artist stuff is more important to me. Not only because I am a DJ but it's always great listening to local talent.

Without the artists, we wouldn't have such a solid local scene, and without good artist promotion to OUR scene, it's hard for people to get noticed sometimes.

Glad to see that we are getting a thread now. Thanks Z !!!

ummm, I don't think any of us are whining or crying about anything...

Just trying to express thoughts on how to better the site.

There is no purpose in continuing a conversation on things that are not going to change. The things that will change....

1. There is now a local DJ thread.
2. There is a poll to vote on whether the event subforums will be changed.

End of story!

ohh sticky then unsticky real nice. lol

the events sub forum is cool, it really doesnt matter to me.

it seems like nyta is so much more hectic now than it used to be, i see a lot more input, traffic and suggestions. And where are all the originals or at least 2003 TA's. if you go through the first few pages of my what are you listening to thread you'll see a lot of those people don't post anymore.

I'm sorry. Don't ummm take my post so serious.

I will correct myself.

I voted for the Westcoast style for those who can't seem to navigate successfully throughout this forum.

Too many stickies....your thread wasn't the only one to be unstickied. All of the most important threads will now be referenced here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...&forumid=26&s=1

I noticed some of the old posters are starting to come back.

Who says there is no purpose though? If you personally don't see a purpose, it gets closed? I thought a lot of good ideas have come out so far. Its very possibly more could come...I just don't see how immediately closing it makes sense...

Again, don't take it personally. You've done a great job with this place the past few months. No one will disagree with that.

But, if we want to go by the TA book, so to speak, is there an official rule that says every thread in NYTA has to be purposeful in the eyes of Zaneta or it will be closed? C'mon...

Omg, your thread got closed. It's the end of the world

Swamper came and said his piece, what more do you want? Another 50 or so pages or people repeating the same complaints over and over again. Your snide remarks will get you no where

Its not the end of the world, its just a step in the wrong direction, IMO.

I'm not trying to be a dick at all. I DO want another 50 pages...absolutely. If we get 50 more pages, I'm sure there will be at least SOME good suggestions made....isn't that a good thing?

Posted by She_Fitz on Feb-19-2010 17:59:

I like the event forum and see the benefit of having the hide option. Would the events still need to be posted in the event forum vs. the regular NYTA forum?

I come from TOTA land and the event forum works great.

I will admit the excess posting of the same event was really annoying and I am happy it is gone.

I will be an NYTA. WOOT.

Anyone can make a suggestion at any time. Yes there were some good suggestions made.

If it's suggestions that you want to make...there is an entire section of the forums strictly dedicated to just that

"Site Suggestions:
Hate something on the site? Want something added to the site? Tell me here."

The events would be posted in the event subforum but would appear in both locations unless you hide them.
