Thumbs down Can good remixes save a worthless track ?

I've noticed that there are many choons that are really shite but have very good remixes. The track which came up to my mind in this moment is Active X - Let's Go. PVD's TPOD mix is a tune, but I was curious about the original mix, so I've downloaded it and checked it out. It sucked big time. Same with Iio - Rapture. I know it has been discussed a lot before, but for me it was like I've heard the track for the first time in PVD's Knebworth set and omg what a tune! It was the Deep Dish remix. Later I 've heard Riva and AvB rmxes and they were mint. But when I noticed the original mix in the radio it was a horrible crap. So now when I'm in my local club (they usually play dance there) and when the Dj plays it, I quit the dancefloor immediately. I hate the track. But the remixes are still cool.

So what do you think - can good remixes save a worthless track ?

I'm very partial to Jam & Spoon in general, started me off on trance.
Stella= CHOON!

I'll say Conductor and Cowboy - Feeling this Way(Solar Stone Remix)

the original is a pile of poo!
the jules mix as well.

Yes, the original is worthless but Green Martian and Beat Pusher saved it from damnation..

matanka push rmx, prime example

i always hated fragma, until swamper put up this last year

fragma - say that you're here (hennes & cold rmx)
this is the only hennes & cold production that has ever impressed me!

and another one:

Barcode Brothers & DJ Alan S - It's A Fine Day (ATB Remix)

so ATB saved this one...doesn't surprise me, some of the ATB tunes always makes you dream

Cygnus X - Superstring

that song sucks! Rank-1 did some brilliant things with that

Paul Reworked 'Vank Mix' of 'Let`s Go' and 'Creamer vs. Stephane Remix' of 'Rapture'.

Many Greetings,

sample given:
dj jamx - keep it that way part2 [dj gert remix]

Posted by zoomp on Jul-12-2002 22:58:

yeap but what about the remixes that fuck the track?
ex.
Misja Helsloot - First Second ( Ralphie B Remix) >>> poor rmx

Posted by Heresy on Jul-12-2002 23:34:

one that comes to mind for me is DJ Dan - That Zipper Track .. Carl Cox definitely pulled that one out of the burning pile of crappiness, and breathed a lot of life into it.

Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape)
DB Boulevard - Point of View (Lange remix)
Cygnus X - The Orange Theme
Push - Universal Nation (Ferry Corsten) also not so good but the original in insuferable IMO...
Safri Duo - Baya Baya (Future Breeze remix)
Desiderio - Starlight (AvB)
Rank 1 - Awakening (Ferry Corsten) don't like the original (or other remixes...
All of them Ayu Trance tracks.
Wippenberg remixes of Ian Van Dahl, Dance Nation and others

Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizzare (Scot Project

Good call, this remix sounds nothing like the original and is easily better.

Furthermore:

Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine (DJ Tiesto Power Mix)
Ding Fei Fei - Forgotten Moon (Way Out West Dub Mix)
Jon The Dentist vs. Ollie Jaye - Imagination (K90 Remix)
Marc Et Claude - Loving You (Marco V Remix)
Mario Piu - The Vision (Starecase B52 Remix)
Mythos 'N DJ Cosmo - Hymn (Airscape Remix)
SPX - Straight To The Point (Lange Mix)
Xstasia - Sweetness (Michael Woods Remix)

Any Cygnus X track, actually...
the originals sound like the results of 30mins of fooling around with Reason... but the remixes are just.. amazing...

Sylver - Turn The Tide (CJ Stone Mix)

actually, all of Sylvers original songs suck ass . But the CJ Stone mix of that song is great.

Posted by sifntj0r on Jul-13-2002 05:41:

Bomfunk Mc's - Live Your Life (Push Transcendental Mix)

i haven't even heard the original, but it's bomfunk mc's so i'd assume its crap, the remix however is quite good.

Blik is joking.

I assume you are, if not them you show an amazing lack of appreciation of superb music, Cygnus X(and all the other Matthias Hoffmann aliases) were absolute quality, then and now.
