shit, that's when you realize how true sometimes some movies are...

Shit, that is so sad. For those of you who have never seen Shawshank Redemption, you better go check it out. That may be the best movie ever made.

one of the best? Best of all time in my books. Only movie I have ever cried after watching it (well, that and Rudy, but Rudy kicked ass, RUDY!RUDY!RUDY!RUDY!)

Shawshank is an amazing movie. I didn't think I would like it but I was wrong. That's a sad story though

That is a sad story. I loved the Shawshank Redemption. The saddest movie for me was ...oh crap, forgot the name of it, the one where Sean Penn is a convict who's about to be executed and this nun (Susan Surandon sp?) helps him through his last days. I cried for the whole last 1/2hr. 2nd saddest movie is Philadelphea. Again cried for the last 1/2 hr

Yeah one of the best films ever made IMO. The film was a flop at the box office but has become legend on video, it's all spread by word of mouth really. If you look at the MGM and other movie studio polls it's usually in the top 5 of all time.

I was just watching this movie last night, my friend bought the DVD after I showed it to him a few months ago. Excellent movie, it's actually my favorite. The director, Frank Darabont, is one of the best writers and directors currently out there...another movie by him is "The Green Mile". He's also made "The Majestic" w/ Jim Carrey but I haven't seen that yet...has anyone?

As for this guy killing himself...it's close to what happens in Shawshank but the guy was only in for a little more than a year. I wouldn't say he was "institutionalized" yet.
