Calvin Harris - Flashback vs. Ashley Wallbridge - Melodies
Hello,
My name's James Bong, I'm 21 years old, and I've been mixing on Virtual Dj for about 3 years. I've been using a wireless Logitech Keyboard and Mouse to make my sound. Didn't really find the need to get a midi-controller, as helpful as it may have been haha. I guess I'm what some would call a bedroom Dj. Figured I'd upload a mix to see what people think.

The tracks used are:
Calvin Harris - Flashback (Eric Prydz Remix)
Ashley Wallbridge - Melodies (Original Mix)
This is my first upload and I'd really appreciate your feedback, negative or positive.
If you enjoy what you hear, please check back for more.
If there's a demand, I will supply.
Thank You and Enjoy,
jb
It's just one transition?
It sounds like shit
2 tracks isn't really a mix...

Am i really seeing what i'm seeing...
It's a nice idea, but there is a lot of clashing and clipping throughout the mix.
In all honesty, if this is what you have came up with in 3 years of DJ'ing, you should be trying way harder.
Best of luck.
Have you ever done a full length mix?
bong by name...bong by nature?
Woscar:
Well it depends what you consider to be a transition. I had about 4-5 cues on melodies which I played at specific parts of Flashback.
Adam 420:
Thanks mate.
Sushipunk:
True I suppose, I guess it's more along the lines of a mashup?
Amduscias:
Yes?
A.B:
Yeah, I was listening to it again today after a good nights sleep and I agree that there are clashing and clipping segments in the mix.
The longest mix I've made is about an hour and a half long but I found the transitions to be a bit weak, maybe because I'm using keyboard and mouse or just the tracklist itself. I have been thinking on working on a new one though.
Light The Fuse:
Bong by name...and then once I entered college...bong by nature haha
Def cut yourself a break and invest in a controller imo
it doesnt sound terrible, though it doesnt sound great either. i was once like u too and virtual dj isnt the way forward, try abelton or something.
oh. try to spin something other than house or 'trance' to u, theres simply too much of it.

mfitterer1:
Thanks for the advice, figure I'll try and upload something new later on using my friends controller for traktor. =)
KilldaDJ:
Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I always enjoyed using Vdj, just because the interface was pretty simple and it was more or less something to just 'mess around on'.
Figure, if I'm gonna keep uploading I'll have to step it up a notch...or two. I'll definately be trying to expand my library as well.
Amduscias:
Well..it's not a single transition, but I only used two songs. Basically, the intro is just a 16 count of Melodies with high and mid shut off, then I introduced one aspect of Flashback each 16 count starting with its low, high, then mid. I mostly messed around with the EQ while cue'ing parts of Melodies throughout Flashback.
If you're still confused, I can post the general directions I wrote for these two songs.
djhaziel:
HAHAHA, thanks dude. I'll make sure to atleast double the amount of tracks on my next mix.
dlee968:
Thanks you two, I will make the track more worthwile next time around. Rollin rollin rollin I aint slept in weeks~
