What dj gear bags do you use?

I can't sleep, so thought I'd start up a new thread

Don't think we've had this topic pop up as of late so just wondering what you guys are using to carry your gear from A to B..

I'm not talking about Road Ready cases or hard cases to carry your cdj's/turntables/mixers around.

I'm more curious about what you carry all your other gear around in. Specifically my own interest would be in people who carry laptops around with serato (woody) or Traktor.

At the moment I use this:

It's able to fit my MBP 15"/Audio8DJ soundcard with core audio cables/2.5" ext hdd/laptop charger/Faderfox dx2/small cd wallet (very small ~20cds/ipod/2xrca cables/1 midi cable)

I love the bag to bits as it really is a great quality bag and can take any abuse you give it. Problem is it's just that little bit too small for my liking. The velcro on it is truly industrial strength though so as long as it reaches the velcro once it touches it doesn't come apart.

I would prefer something that would house everything a little neater though.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Budget is undecided as of yet, although anything outrageous will probably be dismissed unless it really is the dogs danglies!

Cheers lads..

EDIT: Just found this one here.. not sure i like the styling that much but it does seem to fit a lot of gear in it..

hi mate,

Cheers for the heads up. D'you mind letting me know what you put in it. Just so i have an idea of what you can fit into it?

It's tough sometimes knowing exactly how much you can fit in and a lot of these bags are a considerable investment (at least they are if you get it wrong)..

Thanks mate..

Progress, cheers for the link. I remember looking at the mono gear before. I have been tempted by it in the past. The only thing that would hold me back is the fact that i wouldn't be able to fit my timecode vinyl into the producer bag which is the one that I'd be tempted by out of their range. I think the backpack looks really fugly!

Here's the produce bag they do though..

Looking at the Incase stuff again and this bag seemed to escape me during my period of insomnia last night. I quite like this one as well..

INCASE MESSENGER BAG (Although on second thought, timecode vinyl would again not fit in the bag )

I like the incase one.
I have a 15'' macbook pro, dont know if might be betetr using the large one than medium just to be safer.

If you're trying to fit vinyl in as well, look at the Burton DJ Bag. Have one that I use and love it. Holds my 15" mac, vinyl, gear, and cables well.

Yeah...I can fit my 15 inch laptop...vci 100, audio4 dj, audio cables...usb cables, external harddrive...ipod, and headphones all in the bag.

UDG all the way.

Hmmm not the biggest fan of the burton bags. Dunno something about them raves homosexual. That could be just me though.

UDG are an obvious choice but i feel for bang for buck there are better companies out there.

I'm still tempted by the Magma digi bag but it does look pretty bland. The Stashpack (which is proving rather difficult to get shipped to ireland) is also still on the list.

Monocase - Again not the biggest fan on the look of the 365 let alone the cost. But realistically i only need enough room for 2 control vinyl so no need for space for 25-50.

Hmmm i might look around a little more. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Cheers for the ones so far

I use a Headliner Bags Slide Sling. I had it since the day it came out. It fits everything I need and then some. I usually carry my 15" MBP, a 60 disc CD Wallet, 2 HD's, Headphones. But, when I DJ outside my residency, I usually carry all that plus control vinyl, my SL1, and all the cables.

I like the bag, and it has lasted me several years so far.

Hi Woody,

Thanks for sharing those links. I hadn't even looked at the headliner sling bag. Dunno why, there are so many options out there that I've missed a few obvious choices. I suppose i doubted you'd fit control vinyl in there.

Will trawl through that SL Forum thread as well now and see if anything good pops up.

Cheers again.
