zeK - Afterhour Delight Mar 2010 Mix [Mini-tech / Techno]

Hello Ta,

Last time I posted a mix was in Sept 2009 which was a bit on the slower side.

This time I came up with something a little more dance floor oriented. The kind of music that is best listened to in an afterhour. I really hope you enjoy it.

Ok so its been two days I listen to it in the car so I can't be 100% on the full review. The main thing that stands out is that you pretty much got the beatmatching and the mixing down tight. Personally I have a hard time paying attention to the first half, might either be because I don't like the songs or maybe you are keeping them going for too long. There is also the possibility that your not layering enough which is something that you need to do with that kind of music. Things finally pick up for me after the halfway point and the songs start to step it up a notch. I was also expecting the stuff to be a bit harder but you know how I am

Thank you for taking the time to listen...

I see what you are saying Steve, the 3rd track drags, I agree... I should have mixed out earlier) Really appreciate the feedback..

HI ZEKS

tell me

is this using auto-tune in traktor?

Posted by epicaricacy on Mar-10-2010 19:05:

while the music may not be my cup of tea, you are slowly but surely getting there in terms of the mixing. When you start creating a bit more drama in terms of what you play over what, you will see that this generally empty/boring style of music can be so much more and taken to a higher level. Steve hit the nail on the head, mnml is pretty much all dj tools, so use them as such.

keep em coming micha.

i am also curious at the current setup...remember our convos? 1+1 = 3

Posted by zeKsg on Mar-10-2010 20:32:

That's the current setup, I also have the KRK 10S sub under the table and I have all of this facing me. (This was taken at a party) (Xone1d on the side to control traktor + efx)

I am didn't use decks to make the final recording Max, but I did when I was making it. I had the beatmatch down for a while now. Next step is to learn do it with vynil, which wont be as easy

Again big thanks for taking the time to listen to my boring MNML freak, also I find I make more drama when playing live using some eq tricks here and some traktor efx there..

Posted by epicaricacy on Mar-10-2010 20:49:

you should do in a demo what you do live.

you know i like mnml man, just that simple a to b mixing won't cut it with tracks that sound the same. make a splash, make some drama, make fun of mods and get banned like me

mixing with records is just as easy as everything else once you understand the differences. the grooves in the record can tell you almost as much as the waveform in mixing programs.

what a crappy set.

please stop djing.

Posted by epicaricacy on Mar-10-2010 20:53:

also why aren't your monitors facing you?

Posted by zeKsg on Mar-10-2010 21:00:

I said this pic was at a party

2 people are a couple...a party needs at least 3 holes

well, as part of a longer set in an afters it's nice

hopefully you can make other parts sound different

i would be bored as fuck if you played tracks like this for 5 hours straight

Posted by robbiej on Mar-11-2010 13:53:

just say no to laptop djing and traktor!!

i like.

Posted by zeKsg on Mar-11-2010 19:21:

Once you go "trak"-tor you never go back Burning 1000s of cds is pretty lame too.

And Val I think for me its actually easier to put variety in larger sets...

it sounds fake

fake

FAKE!!!!!!
