Summer European parties/festivals

I'm planning to go to Europe in July and just wondering what are the bigger/must-attend parties over there... I would've posted this in the european section, but it seems most of them are dead and are diff. for every country (I don't want to post the same thing in 4 diff. places)

so far I'm planning on going to Sensation White, random Ibiza parties, Love Parade & maybe Nature One

I'm sure you're pretty set by doing Sensation white and Nature One. We did Sensation White and Loveparade/love week in 04...as for other festivals, since you'll be in Spain check out some of those down there. They can be amazing.

I really wish I had been able to make it to this when I was in Europe.

Awesome. I heard it was gone again. Glad to hear they're bringing it back.

Dance Valley for trance and Extrema for house.

One thing to keep in mind is that in Europe there's ALL KINDS of smaller festivals that happen every weekend, but you're likely not going to hear about a lot of them while you're in Canada. So the best thing to do would be to pick a few big ones and then check out some of the smaller ones too when you get there.

Also, Sensation parties have gone way downhill in the past 5 years. The experience is definitely cool, but the tunes are mediocre at best anymore.

the big UK and Dutch festivals are always popular but i found that i had the best time checking out ones i had never heard of until i got there.. my suggestion, keep an open mind and mix in both new and tried&true

i'd suggest:

Exit Festival, Novi Sad
Sonar, Barcelona
Sun & Bass, San Teodoro
The Big Chill, Eastnor Castle
Creamfields Andalusia
10 Days Off, Ghent

tons of info here:

Also depending on where you are/where you're looking there are also tons of amazing FREE ones...found out about "Anti sonar" or the 'fuck sonar" party too in Barcelona, never ended up making it but I hear it's crazier...and FREE. See keep an eye out for those as well.

Also, 10 Days off in Amsterdam is awesome too! LOVE the concept. Daft Punk opened the festival when I was there.

Nature One was a lot of fun when I went a few years ago, Sonne Mond Sterne in Germany is also around the same time. However, for the month of July if I had to pick a European festival this year it would be Monegros near Barcelona (helps if you like Techno), I had such an amazing time when I went in 2008 even though I only arrived at the party at 5 am(!) after being at Dance Valley before that... hehe.. and would love to go back.

enjoy!

Amsterdam Sensation White...
Not something one would want to miss if one is around the Netherlands around Jul...

Posted by kvn on Mar-12-2010 03:33:

One of the main reasons I'm starting this Euro trip in July is because Sensation is on the 3rd hahah so thats covered.. just looking for some more parties that could work out while i'm traveling

I went in 2007, it was brutal. They were playing hip-hop half the time. A neat experience but massively, soul-crushingly disappointing musically. We left early.

Something is completely wrong when Fedde le Grand is playing "Jump Around" at 3:30 in the morning at one of Europe's premier dance festivals.

Ozora,
Boom,
Fusion (i think its already sold out),
Spirit Base

sensation white is nothing at all like it used to be. the production of the event is still top notch but it used to be a strictly trance event and now it has at times some of the worst lineups. to experience the event itself would be cool, but i wish i had the opportunity to do it years ago.
