fruity loops question

hi, i'm using fruity loops 8 with a normal computer keyboard to play melodies in the piano roll. However when i play a melody in the piano roll on the keyboard it doesn't save it so i then have to click it in manually. How do i go about doing this?? I'm new to all this.

Click record next to the stop button>click record everything

Exactly what sako said make sure its on PAT obviously, Make sure the record button is highlighted next to the start/stop buttons, Click play normally you should have a metronome countdown before it starts recording so u can time your keys.

Oh, I've used fruity about 3 times in my lifetime. Last time being over a year ago. :P

Yeah, he meant pattern mode, as opposed to song mode. Can't record anything in the playlist.
