a little engineering help needed please
hey all, i need a lil engineering advice for this track. i'm having a little trouble gettin the pluck lead to really cut thru the mix nice n loud.
i've gently side-chained the pads to the lead with fast attack/release times, and low ratio, and it's helped but it's still not really right up front in the mix.
also, there's one or two spot where it clips by around 0.3dB which i can't seem to get rid of.
i'm thinking of changing the pads so they side-chain to the kick instead to get a bit of a pumping effect to try n drive the track a little more, but i'm undecided as yet.
i'm sure there's other stuff that needs attn to (ignoring the fact there's no sweeps in there), so please feel free to point them out to me.
cheers guys ^_^

I'm no pro by any stretch, and I'm not sure exactly which sound you are talking about, but have you tried finding exactly what sound conflicts with it(pad, transient of kick) the most and reducing a few db at the frequency the leads peak/main freq is at? You could also boost the leads main freq as well. And a limiter should fix any clipping right?
I would consider moving the pad a little more to the background via reverb and or putting a shelf on the higher freqs, and of course reducing the volume a db or 2.
any questions? let me know if you try this and if it works.
